“This place will spoil your Paris trip”

Spacious room with a private bath. However, they had bed bugs that kept biting me. One of the Bangladeshi man at the front desk was very rude. Location feels not safe and is very loud. I advise using public transportation in Paris (which runs fairly late) and staying in a nicer neighborhood.

The rooms were a bit shabby but the bathroom was huge with a nice bathtub. However, the pluming is old and therefore there was a sewer like odor. They do not change the sheets very often, maybe once during our two week stay. I only noticed this because there was a stain on the sheet (we spilled a bit of wine) that only disappeared near the end of our visit. There was no safe available in the room so we left our cash in the safe at the front desk. When we asked for our money we were told by the girl at the front desk that it was missing! She called her manager who told her that they money had been moved to another hotel (ok why?) and we would get it back in a few days. We had to beg them to get the money back immediately as we were flying back to Canada in two days and even then it took over 24 hours as the manager was on vacation and did not want to be bothered. The girl at the front desk told us that he was the only one with the keys or she would get us the money herself. Why go on vacation without leaving a set of keys to a trusted employee when there is money in the safe at another location? The breakfast was pretty good but very limited. All that was offered was bread, boiled egg and sometimes processed cheeses slices. It is okay for a budget stay, staff do not speak English (which is fine as this is Paris but sometimes made communication difficult as my French is poor). Do not leave money in the safe and get breakfast elsewhere.

Room Tip: Do not leave money in the safe at the front desk. They transfer large quantites to other hotels wii...

Whats Good.
1) Courteous Staff, All know English.
2) Well Connected. 5 minutes Walk from Gare De L'Est station and 2 stops from Gare Du Nord which is the largest station in Paris. Large fresh foods market is right next to the hotel. You can have fresh Oysters with Champagne in the market itself.
3) Very Large and Clean Bathroom/Toilet
4) Not on a main road so no Noise in the night

What was not so great
1) No WiFi in the rooms. Paid WiFi available in the lobby but not on 24 hours.
2) Needed Converter plugs which were not available at reception
3) Cloak Room - Present but was an open area. No proper tagging of bags. Any other person could have walked off with your bags.
4) Lift was not working on the last day.
5) TV had only French channels, possibly free ones.

To sum it up.
Budget Accommodation in Zone 1 of Paris. So stay here and use the Metro to travel across the city. Okay if you have to spend all the time outside your hotel. Gives a comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Hotel is off the main road so it does not matter

Near the hotel are shops and restaurants that open until late. Two supermarkets nearby. Two train stations nearby which makes travelling relatively simple and there is direct train to the airport.
Hotel has rather steep and narrow. Lift wasnt really helpful. Wifi has to be purchased and only usable in the lobby. Lucky there's a comfy area to chill and use wifi but it was also the area where guests deposit their luggages BUT without surveillance. All guests hang and retrieve their own keys which I thought is unsafe.
Room is small for triple sharing and I was able to hear guests next door showering! Water gushes out from the covered toilet bowl.
Once we took a bag of stuff out. While orientating ourselves at the lobby, the hotel staff took our bag without consent and kept it. When we realised five min later and returned to ask if the staff has seen our bag, the staff said no. When we returned in the evening, another staff handed our bag over at the counter without a word. Was exasperated.

In June I, a man aged 77, stayed here for 5 nights with my teenaged granddaughters and found it an excellent 2 star hotel. The rooms were on the 5th floor overlooking the rear of the building, one a twin and the other a double bed. The rooms were larger than I expected though there was no dressing table or drawers.

There is a lift though it broke down twice while we were there. The breakfast room is just adequate though I imagine there could be queues at busy times. Breakfast is typical 2 star fare, bread, croisant, orange juice and yoghurt. Nearby there is an outdoor space for smokers! There is a small lounge with Wifi which cost my granddaughters 5 euros between them. They found that very usefull. The staff in the hotel were very helpfull and friendly and always had a cheery word for my granddaughterd.

I can find no problems with the area. Yes, men stand outside bars smoking but that behaviour is to be found everywhere there is some form of smoking controls. My granddaughters did not find the area threatening. There are literally hundreds of restaurants within easy walking distance. There are three Metro stations within a few minutes walk with a good choice of destinations. I wanted my girls to experience a 2 star hotel and this is one of the best I have stayed in - if I wanted better I would stay 3 or 4 star!!.

We stayed here for 3nights, we were slightly worried after reading other reviews about the area and hotel. Both my husband and I are in our early 50s. Firstly the hotel is a little dated but on the surface clean enough.Sheets were clean as was the bathroom yes if you looked a little closer you could find dust in the corner but to be honest i feel that's being a little to fussy. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was as you would expect in Paris simple. There is a cafe at the end of the road should you wish to have a bigger breakfast. As far as the hotel is concerned you get what you pay for its simple mainly clean and comfortable and somewhere to lay your head at night. Now for the area, it's great, full of life and very near the gare de nord and gare del est stations which is a plus for getting around Paris. There are lots of places to eat, our favourite was the Piano Bar near the gare del est, not bad prices considering how expensive Paris is a beer was between 4 and 9 euros. The area is in the what they call the African district and if you walk up thr Rue de Strasbourg from centre of Paris there are a lot of groups of young people hanging around,( in fact loads of groups) we only walked up this road once and I felt that was enough for me, but saying that no one really took any notice of us and we didn't get any hassle from any one. Unlike the centre of Paris where you need to be aware of scams people coming up and asking you to sign forms saying they are from a disabled organization then asking for a donation, also watch out for the Romainians one Woman came up to us and showed us a gold ring that she picked up just in front of us she asked if it were ours we said no but she said it was on the floor in front of us and offered it to us, we said we did not want it as it looked like a wedding ring and belonged to someone else. So she walked of with it, later we saw the same women in two different places going up to other people and doing the same thing. We watched her for a while and are unable to say what the scam was but it was defiantly a scam of some sort, so beware, as long as you stay aware of what's going on around you Paris is lovely. Don't be put off by some of the reviews the Hotel is fine the area is really good. If coming from CDG airport there is a Bus pick up from terminal 2 at exit 11 take the 350 bus and it drops you off at Gare del est station very close to the Hotel and only costs about 5 euros. We would not be put off staying here again. Just remember you get what you pay for if you want 5* luxury don't book a 2* hotel.

Nice clean hotel, next to railway. About 30 min walk into city centre but not best of areas for being in late at night . I would nt say its any use for families or older couple. The metro was nearby and staff were helpful. It would have been hard to find if we had nt got taxi fro airport .

Room Tip: Ask for room with shower or you ll get a bath with hip height shower .
