Hotel Villa Mazarin
Ranked #896 of 1,804 Hotels in Paris
Reviewed February 2, 2014

My title says it all. I've stayed in Paris many times for work and tried a new hotel out with Villa Mazarin. I asked for a quiet room on a high floor and they put me on the top floor in a very comfortable and quiet room. All very clean and nice, especially for the price. Service was excellent throughout, with repeated suggestions of things to do in Paris. I'll be going back.

This hotel had been recommended by a friend, and surpassed expectations.

Located with metres of the Hotel de Ville Metro, the property is in right in the middle of Le Marais, and close to the many gay bars and clubs found in the area.

We paid a good rate on Expedia, so it was a pleasant surprise to find that our (very spacious room) was, in fact, an upgrade. That said, we had to change rooms towards the end of our stay, and it turned out to be just as comfortable!

The rooms match the photos on the website, which is something you can't say for many hotels these days. The decor is old world opulence - classy, but not over the top. We had a great view of the street from several floors up, but didn't have any noise issues.

The modern bathroom was well appointed (particularly good mirrors and vanity), and there's a lovely courtyard that you walk through after reception to get to the lift.

All staff were friendly and polite, with the young man on the day shift particularly helpful. We will be back, and will recommend that our friends stay here also.

A quick tip - La Comète next door is a great neighbourhood brasserie with a filling, good value set breakfast.

This is a good hotel for the traveller who wanst to explore paris.
The hotel itself is small but the room had a good size for Paris.
We used had breakfast in the room every morning and it was perfect.
The staff were very helpful regarding calling for taxis storing luggage.
The location is quite near everything and we recommend this hotel!
There is som noise from the street (even if we had a room on the 4th floor...).

Room Tip: Try to get a room as high up as possible.

This is a very sweet hotel with a great location. While the public area of the hotel is limited in size, it has a small seating area with an open air feel and an interesting old world feel breakfast area. Our room was bright with several windows overlooking the street. We were not bothered by noise. We really enjoyed the Marais district, which is full of shops and dining.

Paris has some tiny hotel rooms that I've stayed in before. This hotel provides relative luxury of size with well-planned rooms, furnished in a sort of modern rococo style. Considering where the hotel is and the quality/size/cleanliness of the rooms, it really offers good value. Even the minibar bill was less than I expected. The staff were very helpful, too. A lot of the great neighbourhoods are all within walking distance: the Marais, with its more hipster/gay feel; Ile de Cite and Ile St Louis; the Left Bank; the Louvre is a short walk away, too. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel as there's so much choice on the streets around. I would certainly look to book this again for my next trip back.

Room Tip: Don't bother with breakfast in the hotel when there's so much choice on the adjacent streets...

Just back from our 5th stay at this boutique-style hotel and couldn't fault it.

Location - perfect, at the edge of the Marais with its lovely shops/ambience, yet the river/Notre Dame, Louvre are all within a 10 minute walks, and there's also a metro stop very near.

Rooms - larger than average for Paris, boutique style decoration, sound proofed windows, air conditioning, very good quality bed/bedding. mini bar, free wifi.

Breakfast - no restaurant here, but you can order a lovely continental breakfast delivered to your room.

Reception - efficient, friendly

Totally recommend this place. A few years back we couldn't get in and stayed at a 5 start Marriot on Champs Elysees. Big mistake - nice reception, but room the size of a box and no free wifi.

For UK visitors think Malmaison to get an idea, but a bit better.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking Rue des Archives itself are sound proofed, but you would still hear drivers sound...
