Sure it is lovely but shut on Mondays. Try La Ferrandaise just around the corner if like us you walked a long way to get here!

On the first day of Spring (le printemps), my wife and I strolled around the Luxembourg Gardens and then walked over to Le Petit Medicis, which faces the gardens. Swayed by the many positive reviews, we decided to see if we could dine there at opening time, 7 p.m. on a Friday. The owner said they were all booked but said if we could finish before 8:30 we were welcome to have dinner, which we both enjoyed. We split a green bean salad and both had their steak in a pepper sauce, with their dessert special of pannacotta with strawberries and raspberries. Along with a bottle of mineral water and three glasses of Medoc, and complimentary bread, the total bill was only $79 Euro.
The restaurant is small, but with a lovely ambiance of mirrors and high ceilings that makes it seem larger. The hosts were bilingual and provide English menus, and the waiters were gracious and prompt. For example, when we ordered wine by the glass, they brought over the bottle of Medoc and showed it to us, allowed us to sample it, and only then poured, just as if we had ordered a full bottle. We were seated right below an old retro clock and even thought we had to leave by 8:30 for the next guests, we had a relaxing evening with a first-rate meal. Do make reservations, and bon appetit!!!

Only a few blocks from where we are staying. Walked in a little before 8:00 and got a table. Dinner was really good (actually best so far!). Had eggs with morel, shrimp tempura, tuna tartar and duck breast. Everything was very nice.

No need to write at length about this restaurant. Came upon it by accident. Service fabulous, food extra fabulous. Price very reasonable. Best food we've ever had in Paris and, on reflection, possibly the best food we've ever had in a restaurant anywhere...
