This hotel is the perfect place for anyone who wants a great value and a true taste of life in Paris. One of the great advantages of the hotel is the location. It is right next to many great restaurants and shops on Rue Cler as well as many nearby streets. The metro station is only about six short blocks away, and the Eiffel Tower is a 10-15 minute walk.
The rooms are each individually decorated and very well finished. The beds are comfortable with nice soft sheets, and there is a good WiFi signal in the rooms. They are smaller, but this is typical for how many people live in Paris. However, the rooms are all updated and modern while keeping a very quaint, Parisian feel. We were fortunate to have a room on the top floor so we had a great view of Eiffel Tower as well. My father stayed in a room down the hall, and his room was equally as nice, but he had a view of the courtyard. His room was a little quieter though since it did not have any noise from the street below. In addition, the breakfast was convenient with decent coffee and good breads even if it was slightly more expensive than what you could get just outside the door in the nearby restaurants.
Yet, despite all of its charm and value, this hotel is not for every traveler. We were fortunate to come on a cool week in August, but I imagine the rooms could hot during a heat wave since only open windows and fans are used to keep them cool. All the rooms do have heat though, so this is only something to consider during the warmer months. Also, we were able to fit two large pieces of luggage and two carry ons as well as my 6'8" frame and my wife's 5'9" into the room, but we would pressed to fit anything else in the room. If you need a great deal of space, this is not the place for you. Also, if you are claustrophobic, you will not like the elevator/lift. The only other issue with the hotel is that the service varied widely. The owners are amazing and very kind and outgoing. However, the two gentleman who helped fill in the front desk when they were not around were not horrible, but they were not helpful.
Considering all of the great things and some of the challenges, I would definitely stay there again. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a true taste of life in Paris and favors value, location, and charm over space and extra amenities like a gym or business center.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top 2 floors are definitely quieter and have better views. However, it means more stai...

The staff were very helpful, our room was quiet and comfortable, the breakfasts were excellent, and the hotel is well situated for busses, metro and walking tours of Paris. The Rue Cler, which is adjacent to the Rue du Champ de Mars is an excellent area for markets, restaurants and souvenir shopping. The elevator at the hotel is small, and can accommodate either two people or one person and luggage, but that was not a problem for us. We stayed for 6 nights in late August/early September.

My husband and I had a delightful stay at the Hotel du Champ de Mars. Our room was very pretty and kept immaculate by the housekeeping staff (the bathroom positively gleamed). The location was very handy to the Eiffel Tower and other sites we wanted to see as well as to excellent public transportation. On our last morning we ate breakfast in the hotel to save time and were surprised at how much it included: croissant, pot of coffee or tea, fruit cup, container of yogurt, baguette and cheese, all elegantly presented. I would definitely like to stay here again.

My husband and I spent two nights here in September 2013. The room was small, but not by Paris standards. It was clean and nicely decorated.
We were given room #5 which was located right off the lobby; good so no stairs or small elevator to deal with; bad because of my loud fellow Americans making plans for the morning rendezvous right outside the door after coming in late from a night out on the town. We also shared a courtyard with room number 4, which they had to go through to get to their room. Our room was hot, so we needed our window open to the courtyard and curtains blocked the air. The couple across the way in number 4 could see us in bed watching TV when they came and went. The light was on in the courtyard all night so I did the dance between broiling with curtain closed, or opened with light shining directly in my eyes. Not the best two nights sleep.
Breakfast was tasty, but strangely served. Instead of the usual buffet, a waitperson delivered a tray. Eventually. When we arrived the first morning, none of the small tables had been cleared, so I had to move the debris from a table just to sit down. We waited. And waited for a good 15 minutes. Finally, we were given our continental breakfast. I thought 9 euros each for orange juice, coffee and croissant was high, especially considering the service. The tables were left dirty until someone showed up. Then, the table was cleared, but only the one.
Like I said, a great location.

Room Tip: #5 is close to the lobby and can be noisy. #4 must go outside into a shared courtyard to enter and e...

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights in July. The room was very comfortable and we thought the breakfast was very good value for money.
The area around the hotel is full of Cafe's, Patisseries and other food stores.
It is also 5 minutes walk to the Metro which is a huge advantage.
Sleep quality was very good as the Hotel is on the edge of a pedestrian precinct.
Would definately stay there again.

We loved the location of this hotel. Perfect access to the Eiffel Tower and around the corner from Rue Cleur. The room was small but efficient, plenty of closet space. The bathroom was spotless!
It is such a charming and inviting hotel...just what we wanted for our stay in Paris. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Although there is no AC, we were provided with a fan which we greatly appreciated as our time in Paris, during July 2013, was quite hot! We simply enjoyed the decorations, wallpaper and lovely bedding. It truly is a great little hotel. We highly recommend it.

I loved this little hotel in general it is right by Rue Cleur a typical Parisian dining scene that is just precious. However the staff minus the owner is really not too helpful and one of the service members refused to help me with getting a taxi to the airport.
