Hotel du Champ de Mars
Ranked #373 of 1,802 Hotels in Paris
Certificate of Excellence

Why on earth this adorable hotel is only ranked #69 is beyond my comprehension. This hidden gem in the Rue Cler district of Paris is only a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower and my favorite so far in Europe. The hotel has only 23 rooms but each one is decorated differently in true Parisian classic finery. We only paid 120 Euro per night and had a room with a double bed and private bath. It was so convenient to everything. In the mornings I would walk out the hotel front door right on to Rue Cler and get freshly baled croissants, pastries, and juice for breakfast. On the same street is a wine shop, cheese shop, flower shop, bakery, fish monger, butcher shop, and anything else you could want for your stay in Paris. Book this hotel early as this is a popular destination for Rick Steve's Travel Guide followers. As soon as you know you will be in Paris go to their website and book your room. You will only need a credit card to secure the room and no deposit is required. I will never stay any place else in Paris! Beware that across the street is a macaroon shop with the best macaroons I ever ate. Also, there is a gourmet specialty shop where you can get fine olive oils, spreads, and they will pack you a picnic to enjoy on a day out. This hotel location is second to none as there are numerous great and affordable restaurants too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground floor with a private patio - it was delightful and easy access.

This hotel is a wonderful value. Although the rooms are very small, we found the hotel to be beautifully decorated. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. The location is close to the Metro and in a charming area. the bed was comfortabe with nice quality linnens. I would recomend this hotel to anyone on a budget.

We stayed 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The location is fabulous -- just off the pedestrian Rue Cler with the market and some wonderful restaurants (try Cafe Central for breakfast). The hotel is a quick walk to the Eiffel Tower in one direction and Napoleon's Tomb in the other. Plus, it is also very near the metro (but not too near so there are no crowds or metro sounds), so you can get most anywhere with ease. Our room, number 2, was very quiet. While small, it was attractive and functional. The front desk staff was helpful and gave some great recommendations and helped us make reservations. We were also lucky enough to see the dog in the front, which emphasized how quaint the place is.

Room Tip: Room number 2 is quiet, attractive, and has a private courtyard, but no view.

We greatly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Hotel du Champs de Mars. Yes, the rooms are small (even by Paris standards) but they have been recently updated and are immaculately clean. Our room (#51) had a view of the Tower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pedestrian area of Champs du Mars has lots of shops and restaurants. Our favorite restaurant (5 minute walk) was Cafe Robert though Tribeca (Italian place just around the corner from the hotel) was also quite good. For the price (120 Euro for 2 per night) you can't beat it. Book well in advance as they sell out early.

Considering that this hotel is minutes from the Eiffel Tower it is an Oasis of calm and tranquillity. The rooms are fragrant and spotlessly clean. The view from room #51 had a view of the famous tower and the charming street below. The choice of 3 supermarkets and 3 wine shops within a couple of minutes walk make snacking in your room with a glass of wine perfect. Overall outstanding value.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the street as it will certainly enhance your Parisian experience

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We were so glad that we were given a room with a private courtyard. Too bad the weather was too cold for us to sit outside to enjoy.
The room is small, but adequate and clean. We like the location of the hotel because it's near to the Eiffel tower. There are some nice restaurants right around the corner.

This hotel is a very good value taking into account the location. The rooms are small but clean and functional. Heating was very good, important in a cold March. If you need a good value hotel in Paris this is a good option.
