Great for travellers on a budget and in a French residential area away from the main tourist areas. The rooms and bathrooms are very small. The rooms were very stuffy in the summer heat and we had to remove a plastic mattress protector to get any comfort.

Staying in Paris can be very expensive. Lux Hotel Picpus is a small but cosy establishment that would please shoestring budget travelers. The prices of a standard room here are comparable to what you would expect to pay for a private room in a hostel in a touristy part of the city.

I stayed at Lux for 4 nights in June. Although it was not walking distance from the most visited Parisian attractions, e.g. Eiffel, Louvre etc, it was a convenient metro ride from them. It was 1 RER stop from Gare de Lyon, 2 stops from Chatelet Les Halles (near the Louvre) and 4 stops from Charles de Gaulle Etoile (where Arc de Triomphe is). Since all these RER stations are within Zone 1, a regular metro ticket will do just fine. I found only a few places, such as Montmartre, to be a tad further away but still within 30 minutes of travel.

The hotel was a 5-minute walk from the Nation metro station. Situated in a lovely Parisian residential neighborhood in the 12th arrondissement, it was away from the madness and bustle of the touristy areas and exuded an endearing Parisian charm. The sidewalk along the main road comes alive on weekends with locals armed with shopping trolleys heading to the open-air market (the Marché Cours de Vincennes, if I am not wrong). With the colorful array of fresh produce and tasty hot food, it's impossible to miss.

The room I stayed in was simple and cosy, and most importantly spotlessly clean. There was the usual you'd expect in a regular hotel- dressing table, TV, wardrobe, comfy bed, space to place your luggage, clean en-suite toilet with toiletries and reliable hot shower, fresh towels and daily room service. The reception was polite and helpful, and the daily breakfast buffet was simple but value for money. Sure, the room wasn't sprawlingly spacious, but it was decent, comfortable and provided great value for money.

I'd stay here in a heartbeat again the next time I'm in Paris.

I had been to this hotel in 2006 and came back in June this year. It's good to see that the hotel remains good value for money with well appointed rooms (it's still Paris, so a bit on the small side). What I like most about this hotel is the location (12eme arrondisement) because it's a true Parsiian neighborhood with excellent transportation in the very close Nation (RER, metro, buses, taxis, bus to CDG airport), decent variety of restaurants, excellent bakeries, supermarket, etc. Their breakfast is also good value with full hot buffet for 8 euros. The Spanish speaking woman at breakfast is the nicest staff in the hotel, the reception staff can be nicer, but are still always useful and efficient. If you are in this hotel on a Saturday, I would highly recomment the market on the main road (Vincennnes), a true parisian experience.

We visited Paris in June 2013 and choose Lux hotel based on reviews on TA,must say we were not disappointed. The hotel is located in a quite a neighborhood and very close to Picpus metro (2 mins walk) and Nation station (5 mins walk). It takes about 30 mins to reach the major tourist spots by metro/train. There are supermarkets and shops near Nation station. The hotel staff are very good and helpful. The room was clean and had a small TV, table, safe for valuables and a wardrobe to hang clothes. There was a slight rumbling from the metro even on the 5th floor but it wasn't loud enough to disturb our sleep. The bathroom was quite cramped but extremely clean and well maintained throughout our stay. shower gel, soap etc were provided as well. The room & bathroom were cleaned very well on all days that we stayed there. The buffet breakfast is very good value for money. They have lots of options to choose from and it was very fresh as well. We had a very memorable stay at Lux hotel.

Pretty tiny hotel on the suburbs of Paris, but is not that bad, they have a pretty near metro station and you can easy get to the center of the city. The hotel were average, its like a polly pocket hotel everything were tiny, if you travel with a lot of luggage it can get uncomfortable. The price is ok so you get for what you pay for, the rooms are nice and clean.

I stayed here for a total of five nights, and, since I was traveling with a grad student, wanted to find a place we both could afford. This fit the bill. It's hard to get a decent room in a good neighborhood in Paris for less than USD 100, and this fit the bill nicely. The rooms are, by North American standards, awfully small, as many others have noted. Also, they are not air conditioned, but June in Paris is not so hot usually. There is street noise if you leave the windows open, but it's a good neighborhood. This hotel is far from central Paris, but the Picpus metro on the 6 line is less than 100 meters from the front door, and the neighborhood, in the 12th arrondissement, is quite charming. It's not at all touristy/chic (it's not the 7th!) but it has this great neighborhood vibe, with at least two decent cafes, an outstanding bakery, a very friendly dry cleaner next door, and the BNP Parisbas ATM right across the street. Indeed, everyone was extremely friendly, even when my college-level French failed me.

My room was spotless, and the hotel was always clean and kept up. The elevator/lift is very small, enough for one person and their bags. Be prepared! The shower in my room was tiny, but I'm a big guy.

My only very minor complaints were that it was very hard to get an outside phone line to use my Orange telephone ticket; the WiFi was extremely slow at times; and breakfast, as others have noted, is EUR 8.00. The breakfast room is small but nice, and it's convenient.

I plan to stay here again. It's lovely.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 different times now and it has been great. Twice last summer, and twice this summer. Cheapest room is a "Standard" for 60 Euros with a private shower (make sure to clarify). It is perfect for two young people on a budget and very clean! It is near about 4 boulangeries, an alimentation on the corner on the way to the Metro with fresh fruits/veggies, a post office on the street behind it. Staff is nice, you can get in 24 hours with a simple ring of the doorbell. It's about a 5-10 walk to the Metro, 5 if you walk faster. The rooms are a bit noisy in the morning and you can hear the Metro rumble underneath the building every 5 minutes, but I sleep with earplugs like a rock personally. The street itself it very quiet at night, being more residential/daytime shops.
Warning: The Metro in Paris stops running at 1 a.m. Not sure if this is the same weekdays and weekends. We learned this the hard way. Then you cannot get a bus. One stopped but it was jammed full, I mean jammed. And no taxi will stop. We had to walk... and got to the hotel about 3 a.m. that night :) But we got some great night pics on the Eifel Tower!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a quieter room on an end and they'll probably take that into consideration. Higher up ma...
