Was not expecting such an outstanding memorial. Largest holocaust memorial in Europe. Took us over 4 hours and still did not finish. Well worth the trip just to see the tribute to the children.

While Paris likes to portray itself as the City of Light... it also has had very "Dark Moments". This Memorial documents one of these dark periods when 75,000+ French Jews were deported to Germany for extermination.
For anyone wanting to improve their understanding of Paris this a 'MUST SEE'!!

Time constraints meant we could not see the indoor exhibits, but the Wall of the Righteous and the walls with the names of all the Jews who perished at German hands and the scupltures inside the courtyard are fiercely beautiful and should not be missed

We have been to many Holocaust museums including Yad Vachem in Jerusalem. This one is very beautiful, particularly the crypt. The museum itself is nice and gives you the information needed to understand what happened during the Shoah to French Jews. There is no cost to go in. If you are in the Les Marais area, you should check it out. This will probably take about an hour.
