We enjoyed staying at this wonderful hotel. The lobby is quite memorable, staff are very outgoing and helpful. The decor is fantastic and it is worth staying there just for that. The rooms overall are tight and there is not much room for bags so if you are one to like a spacious room or staying in your room for a some time with a group, this is not the hotel for you. However, it wasn't a big deal for us. Our room faced the street, which was nice in the morning to have the window open and hear the people on the street. At night, if you are a light sleeper, you can still hear people (even with the window closed) but again not an issue for us. I liked that they had Hermes toiletries, unique artwork, and the stairs are worth checking out (tripy polka dots). The breakfast is somewhat forgettable but the staff are very accommodating. Definitely would like to stay here again.

We stayed at the Petit Moulin in late March and had a great time. It was the 2nd time we've stayed here, the first being in July 2009. We had a really good stay that time and wanted to come back. The neighborhood is definitely the draw - the Marais is a great neighborhood and perfect for us as we have been to Paris a lot (work and holiday) so not as much pressure to see all the sites. Some staff were very friendly and helpful (mainly the day time staff) whereas the evening staff was a bit more stand offish and cold. The best is that the hotel is across our favorite restaurant in Paris - Chez Nenesse! We ate there in 2009 as a recommendation from this hotel and have gone back every time since! Family run and simple home-cooked French food - the owners always joke that we order the same thing every time.

We had a room on the 2nd floor facing the side street. As it is designed by Lacroix, the room was colorful and a mix of different patterns and decors. I'm a big fan of Lacroix so love the fashionable feeling of the rooms and hotel decor. Room was pretty big by Paris standards with a particularly large and bright bathroom. Bed was comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. 2 minor complaints: wifi barely worked and the room smelled like smoke. Luckily the weather wasn't too cold so we opened the window and were ok. However, they need to get better wifi - it's 2013!! Bathroom was bright and had Hermes soaps and shampoos which was a plus. There was a large tub and typical hand held shower head. It did cause a bit of water all over the place as there are no shower curtains. Charming but somewhat annoying - floors were wet after each shower.

Again, the major part is the neighborhood. You're in the middle of a chic and residential area so you get a better sense of Paris than staying in the 1st or 8th arrondisment. It is a bit north Marais than some other hotels (Duo, Bourg Tibourg) so the walk to the metro at Hotel de Ville is a good 10-15 minutes. We like to walk and the weather was good so not a major problem. What is nice is that the hotel is not in the center of the Marais so it's quite at night when you sleep. I've stayed closer to the center and it can get loud especially on the weekend. There isn't a restaurant in the hotel so if you like in-room dining, you will be out of luck. Again, not a problem for us since we have our fav spots to eat in Paris.

Overall, love this hotel, great location, and cool rooms! Just fix the WIFI!!

Room Tip: HIgher the floor, the better!

Sometimes a boutique hotel means a poor-quality hotel that has had a paint job and is still damp from it. Not here. This is a sympathetic and characterful restoration of an old building, with good-sized rooms where you wouldn't be ashamed to invite your friends. They are not characterless boxes. As for the bathroom – if they wake up one day to find one of their bathrooms is missing, it's because I stole it.

There is no point in looking good if you aren't good underneath. This hotel is. The service is friendly without being over-familiar, and helpful with information and practical assistance.

The location is unbeatable. Another reviewer said that it was only 10-15 minutes to the Seine. That is only true if you don't look in the shop windows. If you do, the journey would take you days. That apart, Paris is very walkable (only 40 minutes to the Louvre) and there are major Métro lines within a very short distance from the hotel.

Being in a converted building in an historic part of Paris means that you are not in a purpose-built palace, and this shows in the common parts. The bar / breakfast room is small, the bar lightly stocked, the breakfast not especially epic. I'm not saying this as a criticism: it is how it is, because of where it is. But this is Paris, and at ten paces from the hotel you will find lots of cafés and bars. So it shouldn't matter to you at all. And if you can't find one, ask at reception for suggestions.

On the other hand, the room service is excellent. The menu, though short, is substantial. I tried it once: it arrived quickly and it was ample and very good indeed.

Oh, and apart from wi-fi, they also offer the use of iPads and (I think: but ask if it's important) laptops.

Have just returned from two nights at Hotel du Petit Moulin, and I absolutely LOVED this place. The property's location is simply amazing. Totally smack in the middle of hip and trendy Marais. Amazing boutiques, cafes and places to eat abound. Now the hotel and staff itself...

From the moment you walk into Petit Moulin, you know you are in for a different experience. The decor of the place is truly unique, magical, colorful and inspiring! I received a really warm welcome. Had called earlier to request a room with a lot of light. I was upgraded at check-in and received a room on the top floor of the hotel, which was a real delight. It was like my little heaven among the rooftops of Paris. Skylights, window that opens out to a really charming street, super comfy bed and fantastic decor. I found myself looking forward to returning to the room (even while being in Paris!).

The bathroom was great -- spacious, black and white decor, Hermes products...need I say more -- very French and very Paris. Breakfast was not included in my room rate. It is 15 Euros and includes coffee, orange juice, bread basket, cereals and fruits. Certainly very filling and the coffee was excellent.

Staff of the hotel are absolutely fantastic. They are so willing to help you with anything, smiling whenever you walk-in, and just willing to have a conversation and engage with guests. They recommended excellent places to eat as well.

Will I stay here again -- absolutely! In fact, my only regret when leaving the hotel was that I had not stayed there during any of my earlier visits to Paris.

[Note - I also stayed at the Intercontinental by the Opera on this trip for a work conference before moving to Petit Moulin for the weekend. I have reviewed that stay as well, and would absolutely select the charming, stylish and simply adorable Petit Moulin any day over the Intercontinental!]

Designed by Christian Lacroix, this hotel sells itself as a stylish hotel - and it certainly is that. From the cute entrance, which used to be a boulangerie once upon a time, to the modern decor of the rooms, the hotel exudes style. The room we stayed in was on the small side admittedly, but it was clean and very tasteful.
The location was great - just 10-15mins walk to the Seine, a number of good bars and restaurants nearby, and close to a metro.
The staff were very friendly indeed, always on hand to give you directions or suggestions or simply say hello.
The one small downside would be the breakfast, but perhaps my hopes were too high. The bread and croissants were very good, as you would expect, but I'd have hoped for a little more cheese and perhaps some cold meat - but perhaps that's just not the French way...
All in all, it was a very pleasant 3 nights that we stayed.

We've been coming back to Hotel du Petit Moulin several times and we will continue to do so. Besides the wonderful rooms, impeccable beds and bathroom, the personal and attentive service it is located in the hip 3rd Arrondissement. Boutiques and restaurants galore, close to Métro and Merci, in walking distance of practically all the sights in Central Paris.
And another bonus: there is a parking spot available in a nearby garage for hotel guests at €20 per day.

Boutique hotel, with some individual designs and dcorations all over the place. The room had enough space and was well equiped - although ours only had a hand held shower on the bath. The staff were excellent - friendly, efficient and very helpful to find places to eat. Breakfast was a simple, light affair that hit the spot.
