“Art at its best in Paris”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

A 5 minute walk from the Rapail metro station brought us to a long queue outside the Fondation Cartier Pour L'art Contemporain . It was the first weekend of the viewing of Ron Mueck's exhibition, and it took 45 minutes to get to the entrance and ticket office. Looking back, the queue had grown even longer than from where we had started from.
Well worth the wait. Very reasonably priced entrance fee, which was reduced for students and OAPs.
As a non art lover, I was amazed. The sculptured details of each exhibit was unbelievable. So realistic, that you expected the statues to get and and move . Ron Mueck's attention to detail was incredible. Every hair, every hair follicle, every wrinkle was carefully displayed.
The exhibition consisted of about 8 items.... an absolute must, despite the wait

“Came for the Yue Minjun Exhibition - Discovered the stunning building and grounds as well”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We came here to see Yue Minjun's L'ombre Du Fou Rire and discovered both Yue Minjun and the stunning Cartier Foundation building and unusual garden behind it. We really like the exhibition - worth the visit. I like these kind of exhibitions or museums that you can visit at a leisurely pace and take in about an hour's time. In addition, we were lucky to have a very sunny afternoon in Paris, so we were able to walk in the garden behind the building after visiting the exhibition; do have a sit in one of the big orange armchairs in the garden. Cost is about nine euros.

“Always Worth a Visit”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

We try to visit the Cartier when in Paris as there's almost always something unusual and inspiring on show. This time was no different. Yue Minjun's L'ombre Du Fou Rire was both of the above. His exhibition continues until 17th March and is well worth a visit. The Cartier itself is a great modern gallery with 2 extensive exhibition spaces and a bookshop. Around the gallery is a private garden which has some quirky seating and offers an incredibly peaceful space to enjoy a picnic or read a book whilst being right in the centre of one of Europes busiest cities.

“Brilliant Art Space”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

Lovely modern art space to wander round. Two floors and a book shop. Open Sundays too.
I really enjoyed the exhibition on at the moment (until March 17, 2013), Chinese artist Yue Minjun.

“A calm oasis in Montparnasse and well worth a visit”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

This gallery puts on temporary exhibitions so you should check what is on beforehand. When we went there was 'Show and Tell' a show of untrained artists mostly from places like Brazil and India. Although it was quite naiive and folky it was also political - behind the lovely colours and simple designs was a message. At the end of the show was a video made by an indian tribe about their exploitation by a 'civilised' society. It was quite moving and somehow made the wonderful artworks more poignent.

The space itself is very modern and a good place to view art - especially modern art. There is a little café in the garden behind the gallery and was an oasis in Montparnasse. It's near to Raspail Metro station so is easy to get to.
