Very easy to access all the sights and airports from this hotel as the metro station (Denfert-Rochereau) is very near by (train service is very frequent!). It is easily accessible from CGD airport using the RER B and from Orly using the Orlybus. Also easy to get from Versailles from here (definitely worth a day trip). The Catacombs are also right next door and it is a 10/15 minute walk to the Luxembourg Gardens.

Rooms were simple but tidy and the beds were comfortable. Once the window is closed the sound from the road is minimal. The staff were friendly and made a good effort (in English) to try and inform you of the public transport available and the best sites to visit. Wifi worked well. Staff were happy to lock up your bags if you needed before check in/after check out.No need to purchase breakfast with the hotel as there are 2 delicious bakeries just down stairs. There are also a lot of places to dine near by. The downside would be the stairs that you need to carry your bags up to get to the reception but this is not a big deal.

Room Tip: If you want a view of the Eiffle Tower ask for a room on the top level (although the rooms are smaller than those at the bottom). We stayed on level 2 and 8 and both rooms were good (level 8 had the bonus of a lovely view!)

The main selling point of Hotel du Lion would be it's location. It is situated directly opposite the Denfert-Rochereau Metro station, which is a straight shot on the RER (A) line from CDG, or Gare du Nord - the Eurostar terminus in Paris. This proximity to the Metro hub also makes getting around the city a piece of cake. The neighborhood is quite pleasant with several nice cafes and good ethnic restaurants within a block or two. A Monoprix shop is across the street which is convenient for buying snacks and drinks. There is also a Vélib' self-service bicycle station right around the corner, another convenient travel option, although you will need a "chip" type credit card. Ten minutes walk to the north is the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg, which should be on everyone's list of "must sees" in Paris. Some of the upper floor rooms have small balconies with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

You will want to pay close attention when looking for the hotel. It's street frontage is only the width of the door, which is located on the east side of Av. du General Leclerc, just next to the Indiana Cafe. As you face the cafe, look to the right and it's practically under the same awning. Once you have found the door, you immediately go up a narrow flight of stairs that isn't wide enough for two people to pass, especially with luggage. You can't see someone coming down the stairs either, because the stairs make a turn to the left. The reception desk is at the top of the stairs. The lighting in the corridors is on a motion detector, they should come on as you walk further along.

My room was basically clean except that it reeked of cigarette smoke. I don't recall being given the option of a non-smoking room and this was a very unpleasant surprise. The daily housekeeping was taken care of well, but details seem to be overlooked, like stains on the curtain and scuff marks on the walls. The wi-fi and TV worked without any problems.

The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Can't comment about the breakfast as it was an additional charge and I opted to try the local cafes instead. For some reason there was a lot of emergency vehicle traffic - ambulances and police cars blowing their two-tone horns at all hours. All in all, I think Hotel du Lion was an acceptable place to stay, there is room for improvement but the prices were within reason and with a little fine tuning it could be quite good.

It was very nice and clean hotel. Very close to the metro and the rer station (we even took the rer from the airport wich was comfortable and not too complicated). The hotel is on one of the big streets so there are a lot of coffe shops, bakeries, shops and grossary shops. Which was very comfartble and usefull.
The only thing is the stuff didn't speak English and didn't know any information about Paris, even on Bastilia day.
The noice was not so terrible when we closed the window so it didn't bother us.

There were 3 of us sharing a triple room for 4 nights in May. The hotel is clean, safe and the staff was very helpful. We got into CDG and took the RER to the hotel - easy!

The bath had plenty of hot water and our window had a peek-a-boo view of the Eiffel Tower. We didn't try the breakfast at the hotel - there's a Paul's bakery right around the corner.

There's a Monoprix grocery store across the street to get water, wine etc. Also there is a market street across from the hotel as well. We bought some cheese and strawberries.

Easy to get around Paris from here. Very good value for money.

We stayed in the hotel quite a lot of times in the last couple of years and we always were happy. The rooms are really small but I like the area, the staff is always friendly and the prices are reasonable as well. The parking place is really small though and belongs to another hotel nearby but in Paris it's always an issue
