I stayed here for a week while on a business trip. The room was very small - I was on the 4th floor. The bathroom was TINY. I could barely shower...water got everywhere by the time I was done trying to maneuver a hair wash. My room had a funky smell to it but considering I was never in it I didn't really care - left the window open and fan going all the time. Internet is NOT free but rather expensive, as it is everywhere in Paris. Breakfast was fine. Location was SUPERB. The restaurant/bar next door was always bustling, great shopping, and next to several subway stops which made it easy to get around. Overall a great value.

The Hotel Madeleine Opera has a perfect location with a few Metro and one RER station nearby. It is within walking distance to the Opera, Lafayette and Place de la Madeleine.

The front desk staff were all very helpful and polite and there was someone there 24/7 in case you need something. You leave the key as you exit the hotel which for me was very convenient as you don’t have to worry about it.

The elevator is extremely small (2 people+1 suitcase maximum) but that was not an issue for us. The building is old and the common hallways could use a renovation (especially the carpets) but the room looked beautiful!

We stayed at a double room for €84 per night without breakfast. The room was spacious for Paris standards with a comfy bed, pillows, blanket, clean, crispy sheets and a flat screen tv. I’ve never been to a Paris hotel so clean and taken care of. There was a closet and the window had a lovely view of the Parisian street. Ask for room 45 on the fourth floor.

The bathroom was fully renovated with new tiles etc and was spotless. Only minor issue was the shower curtain which was too big for the shower and although it kept water from coming out, it was limiting the already limited space in the shower.

Room and bathroom were cleaned to perfection daily.

We didn’t try the breakfast as there are lots of options around (Paul’s by the corner etc).
Overall we will definitely prefer this hotel from now on for our Paris trips as it combines excellent location, very clean rooms, nice street view and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend it!

Great location, and Jean-Paul on the front desk was a truly superb host, juggling multiple tasks with a smile and treating us (four very tired English-speakers staying only one night) as helpfully and kindly as if we had been paying for a month.

We had booked the ‘apartment' which turned out to be on interesting configuration consisting of a self-contained suite of two connected bedrooms, one with two beds, a large double in the other, with desk, table and chairs. The persons sleeping in the two-bed room had to pass through the other bedroom to reach the small common areas: a toilet room, a closet with /room safe and a lovely modern bathing room with the luxurious bath tub /shower and vanity/sink. This was connectivity was fine for our family group, as privacy wasn’t a big expectation.

Check-in and out were efficient, Jean-Paul gave us great advice and made phone calls to book us reservations and obtain information. The elevator was indeed barely able to hold one person with a suitcase, and the classic older building did show some signs of long use, but the vital parts were in good shape and facilities worked fine and seemed clean.

I thought the price/location combination was truly good value and I would certainly return as long as the attitude of helpfulness remains unchanged. I will mention that we initially picked the location because it was near the train station to Normandy/ D-Day beaches. It was a wonderful surprise that from this hotel the key sites of Paris were so accessible as well, by both foot and subway.

The hotel is centrally located on a quiet side street in the 8th. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was very small, but en-suite. The room was basic, but quiet. At 92 euros / night per room this is very good value for Paris! The staff were friendly and helpful, allowing us to drop off luggage before check in and store for free after check out. There was a problem with the shower drainage and they got it fixed the same day we reported it.
We did not have breakfast from the hotel but there is a great bakery nearby on Rue de Castellane (the bakery close to Rue Tronchet). Several metro stations close by, and you are also walking distance to the Louvre.
Overall, it was a comfortable stay in the centre of Paris and this hotel is a great base to see this amazing city.

Tip for Eurostar travellers - Magenta station (which is connected to Gare du Nord) has a direct connection to Hausmann St Lazare station close to the hotel - one stop from Magenta!

Location is superb and everything worth seeing is close by. However the hotel is very run-down and rooms are small -as are hallways and the elevator is tiny. I could not fit into the elevator and I could also not fit into the shower (I'm an average sized man). There is a fan provided in the room but no A/C (consider this if you go in the summer).

If you do decide to stay at this hotel, don't miss the Italian restaurant 'Pompei' (?) further up the street -the food is amazing.

Nice little hotel without being neither too busy nor too quiet. It is just a short, less than 5 minutes walk to the renowned Galleries Lafayette. A grocery store and a brasserie is just a minute walk away.

Lift in the hotel was really very small and can only accommodate 2 pax- that is if you have no huge luggage! Staff's were very basically responsive to our queries. Check-in was 100% hassle free- just need to give them your name and the key is yours. They are still using the old-fashioned key which would need to be given to the counter staff before you leave the hotel.

Nothing much to rave about the room. It is clean although not spacious. Very pleased to find a safe in the cupboard. I had left my mobile phone one of the day and was very glad it was there lying on the newly-made bed when i came back.

Didnt opt for the breakfast so no comments on that.

Have made extensive research on hotels before i came down and found Madeleine Opera to have the best rate in the area- where all the hotels were expensive!

Would stay here again

LOCATION: Hotel Madeleine Opera is located near the Metro Station of Madeleine which sits on the intersection of Lines 8, 12 & 14. This gives you convenient access to many tourist attractions & places of interest, most of which are just 10-20 mins away by metro.

Within walking distance from the Hotel are Eglise de La Madeleine, Palais Garnier Opera House, Place de la Concorde, Jardin des Tuileries, Musee du Louvre & Champs Elysees. Avid shoppers would be thrilled to know that Boulevard Haussman with its mammoth departmental stores of Printemps & Galeries Lafayette is just a quick 5-min stroll away. Gourmets could easily indulge in their passion too as the historical flagship stores of both Hediard & Fauchon (famed French purveyors of luxury fine foods) are situated nearby at Place de la Madeleine.

The Hotel is situated on a narrow side street in a central location close to where the action is, yet retains a quiet calm away from this busy city's hustle & bustle. There is a grocery store (alimentation) conveniently located just down the left end of the street where you can obtain drinks, snacks & other provisions.

ROOM: We stayed in a Standard Double Room which was clean & quite spacious. It was simply furnished with a double bed, two small beside tables with wall lamps, a desk with 2 chairs, a small wall-mounted TV, a fan (for use in summer) & a sizable wardrobe with a small safety box.
Our room is street-facing on the 2nd floor but we weren't disturbed by any traffic noise. The radiator worked well & kept the room nice & toasty despite the average temperature being about -5 degrees during our stay in winter.

BED: The double bed was of a good size & was fairly comfortable. The blanket provided kept us warm enough & if required in really chilly weather, an extra blanket can be found inside the wardrobe. We managed to sleep quite well during our 2 nights' stay here.

BATHROOM: Clean & equipped with necessary amenities such as soap, ample towels & hair dryer. Bring your own toiletries if you require stuff like shampoo, shower gel & body lotion. There was a consistent supply of hot water (essential during winter) & the shower head had strong water pressure.

BREAKFAST: Room rate is non-inclusive of daily breakfast which is available at an extra 7.50 Euros. The breakfast tray (served in room) provides an adequate spread with good variety: bread rolls, croissants, jam & butter, yoghurt, fruit compote, orange juice, coffee or tea. You can also choose to have breakfast at the cozy lobby downstairs. Alternative breakfast options are easily available at the many Parisian boulangeries & patisseries along the streets.

SERVICE: The Reception Staff spoke good English and were competent & amicable. Reservation, Check-In & Check-Out all proceeded smoothly. The gentleman on Day Duty was especially helpful, always very patient & obliging with all our queries & requests. Even when he didn't have a ready answer, he would go online to search for the required information for us.

My partner absent-mindedly left behind his credit card on the Reception Desk upon Check-Out. The Receptionist actually dashed out the door (without a coat in sub-zero temperature!!) & chased us down several streets just to return the credit card before we left for the airport. Impressive sense of duty that really went the extra mile for guests...

SUMMARY: Given the affordable room rates & convenient location, Hotel Madeleine Opera offers excellent value in expensive Paris. The 5-star service is a great bonus. We would gladly stay here again for our next visit to Paris!!
