A fabulous time! I arrived early and enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar on the main level before being taken down for our tasting in the cellar. I ordered the cheese & charcuterie to accompany my tasting, and I'm glad I did -- however, it would have been nice if we were told a bit about how it might best pair with the wines. Thankfully I had attended a wine, cheese, & charcuterie tasting the day before and had learned that, generally speaking, cheese pairs best with white and charcuterie pairs best with red, so I tried to follow that somewhat throughout the tasting. A good nibble either way! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided a lot of information on the different wine regions, some specific wineries, the differences between varieties, as well as how to taste wines. We were a large group, but he kept us engaged and was nice enough to (extremely kindly) ask the talkative among us to keep their voices down so that the rest of us could hear him. A really nice touch, he had us all introduce ourselves individually in the beginning, and even kept up running jokes / tied in our backgrounds throughout the tasting. This gave the feel of a smaller, more intimate tasting, while allowing many to take part -- plus I made a few friends as a result and grabbed another glass of wine at the bar upstairs afterwards, where I also purchased a (surprisingly affordable) bottle of my favorite wine from the tasting to take back to my hotel. Do it -- you won't regret it!
This lunchtime wine and cheese/charcuterie pairing evolves into whatever the very limited group (max of 8 or 10) wants as the educator-sommelier leads us thru the wines, their character, their regions and grapes, pairing with foods, whys and wherefores of wine and food. Very educational. Very intimate wine library setting. If you want the primer, do this one! Superb excursion. Very well designed event.
We went for a lunch wine tasting with cheese and meats. It was fantastic! The Sommelier was extremely informative and the wines tasted were superb and brilliantly matched with the cheese and meats. Would highly recommend doing any sort of tasting at O’Chateau.
This is definitely one of my favorites from Paris! You should definitely book a wine tasting class! The guy running it is incredible! The price is definitely worth it!
Wine tasting at O Chateau on my last night in Paris was the perfect ending to a great vacation. The facility was top notch and the wonderful lady leading the tasting was knowledgeable and engaging. The wines tasted were good quality as well.
