Nothing special in this hotel! I chosen it cus all the prices in the other hotels were really high or not available! The rooms are very small you dont have space to put you luggage, the bathroom is average! The location is good actually , with 5 min walk to the metro and at night this area is wonderful, with movie theaters , shopping and coffee shops, plus the precise here is away cheaper than champ-eyeles !

Dear Samah Z,

Thank you for your comment about your stay in the Hotel Concorde Montparnasse. I’m gald that you liked the hotel location, near a few historal and cultural places in Paris. You also have the option to do some shopping or have a drink into the Rue de Rennes or Rue de la Gaîté. On your next stay, I invite you to try a Superior or a Deluxe room, which size varies from the Classic room.

Regards,

We have stayed in Paris, 3 previous times in the Duplex/Cambronne area. We eat and drink in this area nice bars and restaurants on Line 6 of the Metro (see more Metro information below) . Reasonably priced places to eat and drink.

We had visited the Montparnasse area previously which is close to these areas to go up the tower.

ROOM AND CHECK IN

This room we managed to get 6 months in advance for £115 per night with breakfast. Expensive you may think, compared to the prices in the other surrounding areas for poor quality hotels we felt we got a good deal.

There were issues when we checked in, that we really did not need arriving at midnight. This hotel had been booked through Travel Republic. The hotel had received a fax from the booking agent they had used saying the room we had booked was only room only!!! At €23 per person per night for breafast, we were understandably anxious.

The hotel reception said they would sort everything out for us the following morning which they did and honoured the breakfast. Make sure if you book the breakfast you take your hotel voucher and invoice. Even check with the booking agent or hotel in advance before you arrive that they have your booking at this rate.

We were allocated an internal Garden View room on the 7th floor. The lower floor rooms have the better view of the garden but we did ask for a room on a high floor. You can also open the windows in these rooms.

The rooms themselves were of good quality. Comfortable beds, nice bathroom with complementary toiletries and hairdryer. Air con was o.k but stuck to a certain temperature. Tea, coffee and kettle were provided, with plastic cups at least it was free. No fridge just a mini bar with drinks. They did have an ice machine on each floor just outside the lift. Useful if you want to load a few drinks in the sink yourself to chill and have them in your room. The hotel also have free Wifi in the rooms.

BREAKFAST

The breakfast was continental, breads, cerials, cheese, ham, juice, tea, coffee etc... Some hot food streaky bacon, scrambled egg and mini sausage. You have to ask for toast. Good quality food. The waitress staff were also very nice.

LOCATION AND SURROUNDING AREA

The hotel is in a very good location. You can get the Metro from Montparnasse station. Come out of the hotel, turn right and it will lead you down to it.

You can get the train from the aiport to Denfert-Rochereau then get on Metro line 6 to Gare Montparnasse. The train is €9.75 and the Metro is €1.70 for a single ticket

Air france also run a shuttle bus "Le Car" from CDG which takes around 1 1/4 hour for less hassle it runs till 10.00pm. It drops you close to the hotel. About €34 return, if booked on their website in advance it may be cheaper. From the final stop carry on up the hill and the hotel is at the top on your right.

Due to a flight delay all the public transport was finished when we arrived. A taxi from GDG airport to the hotel was €62 euro, very expensive. That was with no traffic.

There is a couple of supermarkets across the street from the hotel. The G20 was open 7 days a week and reasonable prices. There are bars and cafe's in the area fairly reasonable prices.

Getting Around

We used the Metro to see the sights. €10.55 for a day ticket. Most of the tourist places are on Metro line 6 (turquoise) and Metro line 1(Yellow).

From Montparnasse Metro

Eiffel Tower (€14.50 entrance) - Line 6 - Towards Charles De Gaulle Etoile - get off at Bir-Hakim about 6 stops

Arc De Triomphe - Line 6 - Towards CDG Etoile - get off at CDG Etoile.

To get to line 1 go all the way from Line 6 to CDG Etoile and change.

For the following sights get Line 1 towards Chateau de Vincennes.

Place de Concorde - Stop Concorde

Tulleries Gardens - Stop Tulleries

The Louvre - Stop Palais Royle Musee de Louvre

Notre-Dame - St Michael Notre Damme.

Last but not least the Montparnasse Tower within walking distance from hotel €13.50 with wonderful views of the Eiffel Tower and Paris.

DRINKING TIP

Drinking can be quite expensive especially in pavement cafes in key locations. However , if you sit or stand at the bar you will get your drinks for much less.

If your still awake after all that, hope you have a great time in Paris, if you decide to stay at this hotel I hope you have found my review helpful. Bon Voyage!!!!

This hotel seems to be almost 4and1/2 stars and is very handy if you are catching a train from Montparnasse. The rooms are ok and the air con was working (thank god).
However the bar is a disaster. I am a Martini drinker - there was no Tanqueray, no Bombay Saphire, no Noilly Pratt (amazing as it's French!!!) and no olives!!! There was no Bourbon either.

Dear ParadiseMadeira,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Hotel Concorde Montparnasse. I am happy to read that you are satisfied with your stay. I am sorry about the lack of Bombay Sapphire, due to a delivery issue. However, at our Bar Wengé, we do usually offer 2 types of Bombay (the Original and the Sapphire) and the whisky amateurs can taste one of our different Whisky such as Jack Daniel, The Macallan 12 years old or Glenfiddich 15 years old. If you are a Martini drinker, please note that we offer 3 types of Martini (Rosso, Bianco and Dry) and also a Dry Martini Cocktail with Gin, Dry Vermouth and Olive. Regards,

Paid 250€ per night-- expected better superior room-- cheap and tacky plastic tea cups, plastic spoons and cutlery, airconditioning is terrible and doesn't really go below 22 o C. Beware the minibar-- you get charged even if the items are touched. Comfy beds, good central location, lots of good restaurants in the vicinity. Very forgettable.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the interior garden are quite gloomy--avoid

Dear Daytripper1on1.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to read that our services didn’t meet your expectations. I am surprised by your comment about the “gloomy” Patio view rooms since we did not have that feedback from our guests. Please know that you can control the temperature and the air flow to your convenience in each room. We recently changed the Minibars to provide a wide choice of drinks and snacking, common to a great majority of hotels. It is nice to know you appreciated the Hotel area which offers a large selection of shops, bars, restaurants and museums. Best regards.

I wanted to like this hotel because the staff was really nice, but unless you need a hotel right next to the train station find somewhere else for the money. The weather was just turning warm after a long winter and our air conditioner didn't work the entire 5 days. The room was hot, stuffy and smelled stale. Couldn't open the windows in our room although you can in some. Everyday they promised to have the air conditioning fixed but nothing every happened. I also asked for a few extra hangers - that took 3 days. No light in the closet. Instant coffee in a little plastic cup. No ice buckets - plastic glasses instead that weren't always stocked and the ice machine on our floor was often empty. A couple of thin towels only, no wash cloths, but after staying in other hotels in France and Portugal I found out that they don't believe in wash cloths. Don't even look in the mini bar or you will get charged automatically! We had bought some orange juice to have on hand since my husband is diabetic and I wanted to keep it cold. This mini bar didn't have any room to store anything and when I tried to move something the door wouldn't close. Had to call to have that taken care of. (and the charge taken off ). I had to keep the orange juice cold in plastic bags with ice. The neighborhood is also not what you think of as a tourist in Paris. We did find that if we walked about 15 minutes to the 14th we found a nice neighborhood with parks, restaurants, etc. We were also pretty close to the Metro so once we figured that out we could get around. The last 3 days of our stay was with a group and we had breakfast and one dinner at the hotel. I must say the food was the best part of the stay - very nice breakfast buffet and my fish at dinner was excellent. Again, unless it is a business trip or you really need to be that close to the train station I'd find another hotel in another area.

Room Tip: Ask for one where you can open the windows and that faces the courtyard.

Dear Lynnandlee,

Thank you for taking the time to write a complete feedback. We do refill the ice-machines located in each floor twice a day and, as you mentioned, the good weather implied a greater number of requests. The plastic cups from the complementary amenities in each room and the lack of wash cloth are part of the Concorde Hotels and Resort group’s standards. Regarding the AC, please know that the technical team checked the AC system in your room and we invite you to ask for a room facing the patio on your next stay. Please know that, for security and hygiene reasons, our minibars cannot store any food or medicine. However, we would have been very happy to store your husband’s medicines. We appreciate your compliments about the variety of the breakfast and the quality of your diner. I am very happy to inform you that the Montparnasse area is culturally rich and you can find loads of activities such as shopping in the rue de Rennes or to the Department store Galeies Lafayette, museums (musée Rodin, centre Georges Pompidou), the Catacombs, the Jardin de l’Atlantique (sport, relax…) or the Invalides.
Don’ hesitate to ask our Reception team to help you arrange your visits during your next stay.

Regards
