Dates: Aug 20, 2014 - Aug 24, 2014 Rooms: 116 & 412
Like most, we were attracted byTrip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed.
First, let me mention the staff. One word - fantastic. I will refrain from mentioning names because I do not want to leave anyone out simply because they did not have the opportunity to interact with us. I will say that everyone that we encountered was friendly, cheerful, helpful and competent. They made our visit more than just a stay in a nice hotel.
And now the property itself. We were told that this was a former warehouse converted one year ago into the hotel. That means that they could design and build any vision that they chose. They hit the target. Each floor was designed by a different designer, as explained in the lobby. That gives each floor a different look. The lobby and dining area are open and with lots of natural light during the day. Be sure to go downstairs and see the fitness room and the theater. Here you get a sense of the original purpose of the building. Almost a catacombs feel, but clean and bright. Very fun. Also, this means that the infrastructure is new. Plumbing, electrical, air con, etc. all new. Looking good is important, everything working properly is more important. And it did.
Our original two day booking placed us in room 116. This room had a music theme, with snare drums for bed side tables, and faced the inner courtyard. Nice and quite. When we decided to extend our stay two more nights, we were upgraded to room 412 so that we could "experience more of the hotel". This is a superior room with a movie theme that overlooks the park across from the front of the hotel. Bright with lots of light and pastel colors. A cheerful room I would say. Quite a nice change from your typical hotel room. Both rooms were very clean when we moved in and service was excellent.
The location is very good. A metro station across the street. Boulevard de Sebastopol is a busy street with many stores and restaurants. A short walk puts you into some lively night life. We walked to Notre Dame our first morning out, stopping to window shop along the way.
Breakfast was quite good. Hot and cold foods. Juices. Coffee. Everything that I want in a breakfast. Great staff.
Drinks at the bar before going out to dinner, or after returning from dinner. A certain bar tender helped us select wines, gave us some tips on a few lesser known places to visit, and was fun to chat with. Great way to relax and take a break from the city.
Summary - Great hotel. Great location. Great staff. What's not to love. This a top of the line four star.
