“Deserves its number 1 rating”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014

I am really tempted to just say “Stay here and don’t think about it”. But I have to give some detail. I’m a 68 year old American traveling with his wife. I have been traveling nationally and internationally since my early 20’s and I can say this is the best place I’ve ever stayed at. I was a little hesitant because of the somewhat funky movie theme but, wow, this place deserves its number 1 rating. The first thing is the outstanding service. The whole staff is into it in a big way. But service, to me, means even more than what the people do. So, here are a few other service points. The minibar is free. Don’t expect a bottle of wine or some beer. Ours had a can of Coke, Coke Zero, Perrier water, Orangina, Minute Maid OJ, and a bottle of water (and 2 empty glasses being kept cold). For us it was perfect. Why every hotel doesn’t learn this lesson, I don’t know. Between 1 PM and 5 PM they put out a bunch of snacks and a wide range of drinks from Coke to OJ to hot chocolate to coffee. The snacks are too many to mention but they are ALL really good. This is service. The décor is themed in white with black and red accents. It totally works. It is spotless and bright and modern. The rooms are very good. We stayed in a superior room which is one up from the lowest. I can’t say about the other room types but ours was very good. For me the key things a bathroom has to be are 1) clean 2) well lit 3) enough counter space for lots of personal stuff and 4) enough towels. The bathroom met all of these. The bright white bathroom is VERY brightly lit and just makes you feel comfortable. Also, the faucets are all single handle which let you mix hot and cold to your preference. Also, the faucet in the shower doesn’t have this complicated European system where one handle turns the water on and one handle sets the temp (usually with a hard to figure out button) – one handle for on and temp and that’s it. Room was very quite and A/C was VERY good (didn't limit the temp you could set and was strong). The breakfast they offer in the morning is the best you’ll find anywhere for a buffet breakfast (note, if you want a free breakfast you must book through their web site, otherwise its 36 euro for 2 people - BTW we booked via one of those numerous discount sites but, guess what, turns out the hotel web site was the cheapest of them all - had to go through the booker's price match guarantee to get the hotels price). Big variety of hot and cold – all really good (I tried almost all of it in the 5 days we were here). You can spend a LOT more than this place in Paris but I don’t think you can get a better place. I always try to find one thing to complain about in any review and for this one the only thing I can think of is that it is a little farther away from the famous attractions than some of the other hotels. You might have to walk ½ mile to Notre Dame and about 1 mile to the Louvre. Was not a big deal at all for us. Lots of other things I could mention - big safe, strong WIFI that is free, one block from a full service supermarket, but I won't put them all down. This place is just terrific.

We had a lovely stay this quirky, themed boutique hotel. Each floor is based on a French actor/actress and decorated according to the theme.

The hotel is located in the 2nd Arr. and is right outside the metro station of Reaumour Sebastopol or within 3-5 mins walk of the metro station of Denis-Strasbourg. So it is really convenient location as it is very easy to get to Gare du Nord and the other tourist spots.

I have to commend the very friendly staff at the hotel. Everyone was very cheerful and helpful. The hotel also has refreshments for guests at the lobby area from 12-5pm daily, and free mini bar usage in the room, which are very nice touches and helped to make our stay enjoyable. The free wifi in the rooms is also very helpful.

We would definitely return to stay again in our next visit to Paris.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel on our way back from the south of France. Having stayed for 5 nights (on the same trip) in the Marais district in a spacious apartment as also the high tripadvisor ranking of this hotel probably raised our expectations of this hotel!

What truly adds value to this hotel is its staff and decor. The staff are very pleasing and go the extra mile to help. They kept our bag 5 days before our actual check in which allowed us to travel freely across the rest of the country. Upon check in the formalities were completed swiftly and we were escorted to our room and explained the functioning of various things in the room in great detail. A porter bringing our bags to the room was also a relief since we had been lugging them all this while :) the lift in the hotel was also helpful as we were on the 6th floor. No great views...you have the option of a hotel courtyard or the garden across the street.

The design/theme of the hotel is quite unique...it adds a very 'young' and welcoming vibe to the hotel. The decor is bright enough and yet not in your face. The other facilities of the hotel are also quite nice. The free mini bar in the room ( no alcohol), movie theatre in basement (not used), complimentary happy hour between 12 noon-5pm (juices, tea/coffee, sweet and savoury snacks, no alcohol and we found the timing a little strange) are all unheard of in a boutique hotel and hence add to picking this hotel. Some of these features are not advertised also!

What I did find disappointing was despite paying nearly 375 euros a night some of the basic things were missing. No room service...I can understand that a hotel may not have a 24x7 room service but the absence of one for such a high ranked hotel is surprising( Must add that the staff did help us order a pizza at midnight!). There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which is now nearly a global basic. We were told to use the lobby bar for tea whenever we want. The bartender though said the tea is chargeable till we protested and told her this can't be so considering there was no kettle in the room! The room rate did not include breakfast which was also a little surprising considering the rate we were paying.

All in all I would rate this hotel as a GOOD hotel but tripadvisor doesn't have that option. The location of the hotel is decent as it has two metro stops in walking distance (200m), however, the street does get a little lonely at night.

Not to sure if I return to paris I will try this hotel again! Kudos to the staff though :)

Hust came back from 6 nights in Paris and I have to say this hotel was one of the best we ever stayed in.
Location is perfect ,just across the street from the metro and walking distance from all major attractions.
Room is very nice and breakfast is great. The manager was going around the breakfast room asking each guest if all is good and if they need any help and chating about their Paris experience which was very nice.
The staff was great nice and attentive and recommended us nice restaurants and shopping places.
Would definitely return. Great hotel.

We had no idea how much we would appreciate the location of this hotel. It is a short walk to many places we were interested in visiting. Metro station very close. The variety of restaurants in the area was wonderful. The restaurants were busy and great locations for people watching. The room was updated and bath was nice and modern. Breakfast was very nice and plenty of comfortable seating in the lobby area.. Snacks throughout the day, which was nice to come back to and restore our energy. The ability to order drinks in the afternoon and evening in the lobby sitting area was a nice treat. I made my reservations online. I asked for help in via email in ordering a ride from the airport and the hotel staff was prompt in setting this up. The same staff was ready and willing to help you at the front desk. Very nice.

123 Sebastopol is a modern boutique hotel, with quirky themeing. Staff are helpful and the rooms are well equipped and in excellent condition (pretty decent air conditioning and wifi too). My stay there was brief but I would return again. The hotel is well located and is worth a stay.

We had a wonderful experience at 123 Sebastopol last week. The staff is extremely friendly and polite and service oriented. We had a beautiful room with excellent bedding and facilities. the overall cinema theme makes it very unique and is very creative. There is even a cinema in the basement, but unfortunately we did not have the time to use it as the weather was too beautiful to be indoors. This is definitely a place we will return to. This hotel met all our expectations and we would highly recommend it.
Some hotels in Paris are quite noisy. This one has excellent noise insulation.
