“A Triple Threat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

My husband and I were on a short trip to Paris and decided to book dinner reservations at this restaurant because of its proximity to our hotel and the great reviews on Tripadvisor. We were seated promptly and chose the 4-course secret menu with wine parings. Everything from the first course, cucumber gazpacho with salmon tartar, to the dessert, panna cotta, was delicious and presented very elegantly. The selected wines paired perfectly with each course and after our meal, we were each treated with a glass of champagne!

Our decision to dine here was the best decision we made during our trip. As we dined and chatted with the family who runs the restaurant, we began to feel like family. Their hospitality and kindness was overwhelmingly appreciated (especially after dining at several other restaurants where if they found out we didn't speak French we were given the cold shoulder). We were the last to leave after a quick tour of the wine school and cellar below the restaurant and hadn't felt more satisfied with our evening - bellies full and hearts overflowing with joy.

All in all, the food was excellent, the wine wonderful, and the service superb! Truly a place we will visit again on our next trip to Paris!

“Amazing surprise 5 course menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

I'm very reluctant to write this review - next time we go back I'm sure the place will be booked out!

We had their surprise 5 course menu and it was fantastic (and at 40 euros per person, pretty good value too). Each course was perfectly prepared - and it varied from table to table so it really was a surprise. The highlight for me was the cod with egglant puree - it was perfectly cooked, amazing almond sauce and the best tasting eggplant anything I've ever had.

The service was very friendly - it seemed to be a family run place, truly a gem.

“Awesome wines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

This is a restaurant that specializes in wines. The menu had only 3 starters, 3 plats, and 3 desserts. There is also order a wine-tasting menu where they serve especially paired wines with each course. No wine list. The young man who took our orders suggested wine to go with our meals. My husband had white wine and I had red - both were exceptionally good and went beautifully with our dinners. We ordered the guinea hen which was delicious! This was a splurge for us and it was definitely worth it. It was an outstanding evening.

“I won the chess!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2014

When we arrived in Paris we were tired and wanted a good dinner and go to bed. Grains Nobles was close to our hotel and had great reviews on Tripadvisor so it was an easy choise. The set menu was great, the wine package was superb and we found a chess table to kill the time in between the 5 courses (who didn't come in massive speed). I won the chess, so of course the experience was amazing!

“Excellent restaurant experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2014

We have spent 3 days in paris in a Gourmet weekend. I booked based on Trip Advisor and all is correct. Restaurant is small / medium, in a very easy to reach area (close to La Sorbonne), 5 min walk from St Michel / St Germain bus station.
The restaurant has a bit strange furniture (some orange chairs..), and is split in several rooms. The menu is small, and you can chose between 2 menu decouverte (4 course or 5 courses), with or without paired wines, or chose on your own.
We absolutely recommend the menus (although they come as a surprise, this is why is called "decouverte"), and do not be scared, ask for the paired wines. It is totally worth it!
In fact the restaurant hosts also a degustation school for wines, can accommodate private events, and has a very nice wine cellar.
Service was good, although our waiter was very young and was obviously a bit stressed.
Food was fantastic, and the wines excellent! Learning - ask for the name of wines on a piece of paper, we unfortunately forgot fast...
From the 3 days, we have been in 4 other restaurants, but this one was the best end to end experience. To not miss.
We paid 165 eur for 3 people, full meals.
The lady who owns the place seems determined to fight for the spirit of old Paris, even if she comes from across the sea.
