My gourmand friend in California said I had to visit this shop, and I am so glad I followed Nancy's advice. There is a large selection to choose from, and the clerk was very helpful in recommending the most popular - the dark chocolate (best seller, I think), the caramel (his favorite) and the yuzu flavored one (my first choice and the third best seller). I was blown away by the clean tasting citrus in the yuzu eclair. It gave me a smile for the next hour just thinking about it. They cost around 4.5 Euros, but you're in Paris, dammit - have the best eclair of your life!

I cannot stop by Paris without visiting one of the branches of l'éclair de génie. Their éclairs are delicious, each with a unique flavor, you just want to try them all!

Eclairs de Génie has by far the finest and most exotic éclair selection you’ll ever see. The Marais location is about 2 blocks from L’As du Falafel. So you can have falafel for lunch and eclairs for dessert. They also have a counter inside Galeries Lafayette on Haussmann (in the food and home goods building).

After disappointment the day before at another patisserie that sold out of its wares just as a I reached the front of the queue, I had built up a lot of éclair anticipation by the time I got to L'Eclair de Génie. The beautiful and creative éclairs lined up along the counter didn't seem like they were going to disappoint, however, and indeed they didn't. After a few minutes of deliberation, I settled on a wonderful chocolate and salted caramel concoction that was sprinkled with gold and even had popping candy on top. It was gone in 60 seconds, of course, and I sorely wish I had bought another one to eat on my Eurostar home, but we didn't have time to queue again. Yes, they're a little pricey but well worth it.

Designer eclairs that are both tasty to your eyes and stomach. If you like eclairs and can think outside the usual chocolate varieties, you will probably enjoy this place.
