Whilst the hotel was clean and reasonably priced and near the Metro it is in quite a dodgy area and what was very weird was the 1/2 frosted, 1/2 clear door in the bathroom which we didn't like. The room was very small and very hot as the air conditioning had broken. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good.

Room Tip: We had a high room but this didn't make it any cooler at night despite the breeze coming in

the hotel is located 10 minutes away from the sacre cour and montmatre.rue lafayette takes you to lafayette mall .to the opera and hard rock cafe.the gare du nord station is 200 metres away.from there you can go to the airport in 20 minutes for 5 euros or to eiffel tower in 10 minutes.actually is 10 minutes away from any attraction.the hotel is clean and the bathroom could be better.rooms a very polished.the breakfast is really good.the reception people are very friendly and give you good tips about the subway sistem.busses also pass by the hotel.if you get lost in paris there will be a bus saying gare du nord or by gare du nord that will take you to the hotel fast.at night the area around the hotel (12 pm) gets full of african people who usually steal bags.be carefull,mi room had a nice window view

Room Tip: the side rooms have nice view to a empty building so your window can be opened all day

Non-descript Mercure property really, we chose it because it was well priced and also because it was reasonably close to transport (just a few minutes walk to Gare du Nord). But the area feels very dodgy after dark, big black men loitering around the RER entrance and generally run down feel of the short walk from the station. I'm sure it's safe, but ...

I found the property very pleasant. The design is open and inviting and the front desk staff very helpful. Yes the rooms are rather small but that's just France in general for you. It's adequate. We had a nice balcony which opens up onto the main street, and importantly for a trainspotter like myself, looks right over the Gare l'Est tracks. I was excited to see all manner of trains running past my window in the morning - better still stand on the balcony with my cup of tea to watch them go past. :-)

The other major gripe is the "open" nature of the bathroom. Basically the walls are glass and you can see everything happening inside. Trying to be cool but actually not cool at all. Then there's the open shower - you basically have a wet floor after every shower. Again, trying too hard to be cool but turns up something completely uncool.

Like many other reviewers I also have a problem with the air conditioning. It kinda works but there's not much in the way of temperature adjustment. Overnight the temp falls to around 23C which is still way too warm for a comfortable night's sleep. My partner loved it however ...

Room Tip: For trainspotters (like myself), a room on a higher floor facing the Gare l'Est tracks is amazin...

Chose this hotel because it is relatively new and close to Gare du Nord. Expensive for what you get. Small room, comfortable bed, but bathroom facilities are poor. Open shower area which leaves whole floor flooded, perhaps the idea is to get you to vacate as quickly as possible. No restaurant, which is not an issue, but area around Gare du Nord is not the best, especially at night. Breakfast fine, reception staff very friendly. Disappointed, would not use again.

Room Tip: Noise will be a problem because of busy road and overlooking Gare de L'Est. try to get room at b...

The hotel is impressively modern with bright and airy decor and good quality fittings.

The drawback is that the room was small, with not much space round the bed. The shower and wash basin are behind a green glass wall and this was not a problem. The toilet was in a separate space with a sliding wooden door. Everything was spotlessly clean.

The room was rather warm but the window can be opened. We closed it at night to avoid road noise and had a great night's sleep.

Breakfast was varied and a range of organic food is offered, however it probably doesn't rate the 14 euros cost unless one takes into account the convenience of eating on site.

We stayed in this hotel as part of a tour. All through our tour all the hotels had given us two rooms conected since we where two adults and two minors. We did get what we wanted, but one of the rooms had no AC. The heat in the room was like a sauna room. (Temperature outside was around 35 degrees C and inside close to 40) We called the reception and a very nice gentleman came upstairs, moved a few wires to tell us he was not a technician and would call one, but in the meantime he would bring us a fan. We ended up going downstairs and we tried talking with a man who in his poor English said the man who came to our room had not reported anything bad with the AC. Our tour guide tried to help us in French not solving anything and then the manager walked out and asked him if he spoke English so he said yes. I told him, trying not to scream, that we needed AC in the room and he said he could not solve it until the technician came in. The manager left an a nice lady came with us to our room to see that the AC was not working and then gave us another room, but in another floor.
The room that we kept was clean, but the bathroom was full of mold and the bathtub had a huge rusty crack and the bathroom always smelled terrible.
Breakfast and wifi where good. The area where the hotel is very close to the Du Nord metro station, where you can move fast through city and has a lot of restaurants. During the nights it seems like dangerous, nothing happened to us, but everything is open until late.

Room Tip: Before you take the room verify you have AC.
