A lovely December getaway and the location was perfect for us, an easy walk to and from the train station plus many tourist sites. The front staff were always extremely polite offering maps and guidance. We never ventured downstairs to breakfast as there are patisseries on every corner. Our favorite being EK (Eric Kayser) Boulanger a block away...not much atmosphere but delicious croissants and cafe au lait...stick to the local's drink, a good cappuccino is hard to find in Paris!
Our room, #134, was very chic and modern tastefully done in reds, which only a Parisian hotel could do! We opted for a deluxe room rather than a classic and are very glad we did. The deluxe rooms are small; in anything smaller we would have been running into each other. We even went back downstairs to check that this was a deluxe room as opposed to the less expensive classic room. The room itself looks virtually new with a firm yet comfortable bed and easy Wi-Fi access. I did miss not having a bathrobe and slippers but then this is a 3 star!
The bathroom was the only defect...again, very modern and small. I'll always remember the fact that you sit on the toilet with your feet in the shower!! It's an open shower, so when in use water from the shower head sprayed everywhere....the toilet, floor, sink area, toiletries were drenched...a real mess. We found it easiest to shower in the morning and let housekeeping deal with the aftermath!! Can't imagine what this bathroom will look like after a year's constant use...it will have to be completely remodeled! One trendy thing was the bathroom "mood" lighting...the ceiling lit up like a starry sky which was fun to have on in the evening. Again, only in Paris...or maybe Las Vegas!!
Will we stay here again? Its still a toss up! But, definitely NOT in room #134!
