Actually we did not planned to visit it, but the Musee d'Orsay, which is located opposite (20 m)
Itś closed in the morning and we saw it open when to quit Orsay
Very interesting museum, and free of charge, which is rare.
Audio guides are available as well as retired military people to guide you though it.
Evidently, itś main attraction is the French Legion d'Honneur.
But and as interesting, you can see a large collection of others medals and decoration from nay countries, as well as some history of it
For instance I knew about the Burgundy/Austrian/Spanish Golden Fleece and the British Orders of the Garter and Bath but never saw them real, only picture. Both are exposed and you can also take pictures.
So, if you have an hour to spend, and if you go to the Orsay museum, do go to visit it.

Best day to be at National Museum of the Legion of Honour. Red, white and blue contrails by flyovers. Colorful parachutists. Parades. Flags everywhere. After dark. A good place to watch the light show that now is the Eiffel Tower.

Food was just ok. It Came out fast however if you can make it a block or two down the street there are better options around. Would not come back.

During a recent trip to Paris we decided to visit the Musee d' Orsay. Upon arriving we noticed very long lines and extensive security checks. We then noticed the National Museum of the Legion of Honor next door. We then approached security at the door and were told it was free entrance and that you would be able to take photos without a flash. It turned into a memorable experience with probably one of the most extensive medal collections in the world. As a medal collector it was like going to heaven. The artwork and displays were outstanding with even the medals of Napolean on display. In addition to magnificent displays drawers of medals could be opened for almost every country in the world to display national awards and medals rarely ever seen. Audio receivers were available to describe all the displays. This is a definite Paris highlight.

If you like the topic of the museum you will love it! It's interesting, nothing like the other museums in Paris. It's small, but with the audio tour you can enjoy listening to lots of information. Furthermore, I really liked the staff of the museum. They were very kind.
