“Already looking for an excuse to return!”
Reviewed March 31, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Agree with all the other plaudits. We’re just back from a week at 52 Clichy and are already wishing we had an excuse to return. Rosemary’s own apartment where she offers B&B is lovely, and she herself is an exceptional hostess. Able to spot the best, freshly-cooked croissant at fifty paces (it’s all to do with the folding, apparently), she is up with the lark and round to the boulangerie each morning, but later relaxed enough to engage in good conversation while you consume her ever-varying assortment of breakfast breads and pastries, and cut fruits. Her knowledge of her adopted city is enviable, her advice on where you might like to go un-pushy, and the whole experience is like staying with a friend - a friend with particularly comfortable sofas you are encouraged to loll on, books you are invited to read, and a pretty balcony furnished with table and chairs and carefully tended plants.

One extra thing: Rosemary is also a qualified Colour Me Beautiful counsellor – and, as a present, my husband gave me a session with her. I spent a happy two hours one morning being shown what colours and clothes styles to wear, and given hints on Parisian chic: very helpful and great fun. NB: She does sessions for men, too …

“Absolutely the right lodging for first time travellers to Paris.”
Reviewed March 29, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

52 Clichy B and B

I had the pleasure recently to stay at Rosemary Allan’s B and B, 52 Rue de Clichy in Paris. I had researched many different types of lodging options for a six day stay and had settled on this accommodation because it met all of my requirements as follows: Close to public transportation (the bus stop is steps away and the metro two short blocks), near amenities (grocery, restaurants, pharmacy, boulangerie, etc.), and having an overall character that was typical of the local culture. Added to that, I was recovering from knee surgery and sporting an impressively large brace for the duration of the trip that enabled me to walk but made stair climbing very difficult. 52 Clichy has a lovely modern lift that takes you right from the courtyard to the fifth floor with zero stairs. Hallelujah!

I am happy to tell you that Ms. Allan is a timely and thorough provider of information. She has streamlined her process in order to provide a seamless method of contact, booking, and payment. Once you have made your reservation and paid your deposit you are given very clear directions to the Flat that include all of the various methods of transportation (I suggest strongly that fellow travelers take her advice). My traveling companion and I arrived to be greeted by tea on the terrace, that included a nice visit with much sage wisdom for acclimating to the surrounding area, and directions take a walk to the Moulin Rouge which is just 10 minutes away.

For the duration of our stay we enjoyed comfortable beds, plenty of hot water for showers, and lovely quiet evenings, a rarity in busy, bustling Paris (though to be fair we rarely made it in before 10:00 PM). A true B and B, breakfast is served at the time of the lodgers choosing and includes fresh pastries which Rosemary purchases every morning at one of the several local Boulangeries. Ever ready with recommendations for sightseeing, restaurants, and information on the history and culture of her adopted hometown I am convinced we could not have enjoyed a kinder welcome or better care than we received as lodgers at 52 Rue de Clichy. Bravo Ms. Allan. While the pictures of your lovely flat do indeed bear out the truth of the divine accommodations, truly we are delighted to have had your company throughout our lovely holiday.

“A home from home”
Reviewed March 16, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Rosemary made our stay in Paris unique and well-rounded. The apartment is in a wonderful location to explore all sides of Paris, and with Rosemary's advice and recommendations we experienced a memorable weekend. The location feels safe, especially once through in to the secluded and secure courtyard, we were able to stroll around Monmarte without any trouble.

The weekend felt relaxed thanks to the leisurely breakfasts with great conversation, yet we easily visited everywhere we intended to during the daytime, returning to a welcoming place to relax in the late evenings. We went with a loose itinerary, and with tips on where to eat we were able to build a rounded day taking in the sites and flavours of the city.

Without hesitation we would recommend this as a place to stay, and if you can fit in a trip to the markets in Saint-Ouen, they are a must.

“Lovely B&B”
Reviewed February 22, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed at 52 Clichy during Christmas Holiday. Rosemary is very kind and very helpful. We miss the breakfast time very much. When you wake up in the morning, we can always have fresh bread from local Boulanger and have lots of chat with Rosemary. We enjoy staying with Rosemary very much and would definitely go back.

“Overdue Review of a Wonderful Bed & Breakfast Apartment in Paris”
Reviewed February 13, 2015 for a stay in June 2014

Last June (2014) we stayed at this wonderful apartment for five nights during our multi-country European vacation. This review is long overdue; here goes.

Our experience at 52 Clichy was wonderful. From the great location, to the beautiful apartment, to the magnificent outdoor space -- it was a great place to stay in Paris. And, most importanly, our host Rosemary really made our experience complete.

She is available for helpful hints and/or directions, but never intrusive. And, the breakfast she prepares each morning is more delicious than you can imagine, especially the almond pastry.

For those like us, who have never stayed in an owner-occupied shared space, I will say that the experience is quite different than a hotel; yet, Rosemary makes it a comfortable experience.

For those who might like "the best of both worlds" , Rosemary has another apartment in the same building, where you live on your own and receive the same breakfast delivered to you. (In fact.,given the slightly higher, but still reasonable cost, we would try the private apartment if we returned to Paris)

Overall, you can not go wrong with either approach thanks to Rosemary, a wonderful host.
We fully recommenda stay at 52 Clichy.
