“Perfect location, had everything you need.”

Check in process was fabulous, and we had no need to contact Beirut agin during our stay.
The location of the flat is perfect and we walked most places on our sight seeing trips. It was so nice having a bakery and supermarkets and cares just downstairs, especially when the children were tired after a long day walking around.
It was great that there was the odd bit of food there, such as coffee filters, tea bags etc, as it is unnecessary for everyone who stays to purchase a new box every time for example.
There was always hot water. Washing machine and dryer and also the drying rack came in very handy.
Also good to have a map of Paris left in the flat for us to use. There were some guide books, but they were in German.
We caught the metro from the airport to the flat and Berit's instructions came in very handy.

“Lovely apartment!”

We stayed here with our two grand-daughters aged 7 and 9. Everything about the apartment was brilliant, very well equipped, very comfortable bed (even the sofa bed!), plenty of hot water and close to transport and amenities. Despite the cold weather we had a great time showing the girls around Paris and the apartment was warm and welcoming to return to. Although practically next door to the Pompidou centre and on a busy street we slept like logs, it was so quiet. Our upstairs neighbours were playing music fairly loud one evening but on the stroke of 11pm it was silent! No complaints at all.

Berit was very helpful, without being intrusive, she met us at the apartment on arrival and made sure we were familiar with things. We were let down with our original letting in another part of Paris and little did we know what a huge favour this was. Not only was this apartment absolutely lovely the location could not have been better. Thank you Berit and we would certainly stay again.

“Beautiful apartment in a fantastic location!”

We stayed at 89 Rue de Saint Martin for 5-nights in mid November as a surprise trip I had organised to celebrate my husbands birthday. Prior to our visit I exchanged a number of emails with Berit the owner who was very helpful and answered all my questions however daft!

The apartment is situated a few seconds walk from the Pompidou centre so it is very easy to find, especially as our taxi had to stop a short distance away due to road works during our visit (will be finished soon). Berit was there to meet us and to take us around the apartment showing us where things were and how the radiators, TV and WiFi etc. work.

Wow! The first floor apartment is exactly as described and shown in the photos and more. It is beautiful with original plaster mouldings on the walls and ceiling and such a large living space. Although so close to the Pompidou Centre is is remarkably quiet both day and night as the road is closed to traffic. I prefer to rent apartments where possible on city breaks as they normally have more space and also give us the freedom to eat in if we wish and we can drop back during the day to rest our feet. This was no different and better than other places as it really is so central for the main sights around Le Marais district, also only 5-minutes to La Seine and 10-minutes walk to Notre Damme. There are also 2-3 Metro stops nearby allowing access to most of the lines across Paris.

I always look for WiFi availability and this was very fast and efficient at number 89. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need including a washing machine, dish washer and coffee machine. We agreed that the king-sized bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in (that includes our own at home) and often we had some difficulty in getting up each day for sight seeing. The bedroom faces onto an inner space (not really a courtyard) so if you like fresh air, you can open the window and it is still very quiet. The bathroom leads off of the bedroom with a full sized spa bath with shower over and sink in the first room and then a separate large shower cubicle, toilet and sink in a separate room with a shower with seemingly endless hot water. As we were there in November, it was quite chilly (and wet and foggy) but the radiators soon warm up the apartment to make a large space surprisingly cosy.

Berit has prepared a list of restaurants and shops in the area. There are 3 supermarkets within 5-minutes walk for supplies and a very good ‘Boulangerie’ (bakery) a few minutes walk down Rue de Saint Martin for fresh croissants and bread for breakfast (cakes are great as well).

A few places where we ate within walking distance of the apartment which we really enjoyed were - Bistrot des Victoires (6 Rue de la Vrilliere) about 15-minutes walk down the side of the Bank of France - good value, lots of local people eating there and excellent food. Also Creperie Suzette (24 Rue des Francs-Bourgeois), about a 10-minute walk. There are lots of creperies in the area but this has real character and quality crepes - buckwheat savoury and traditional sweet with far too good cider as well. We also tried the legendary falafel place - L’As du Fallafel in Rue des Rosiers for lunch. The house pitta and falafel is huge with very tasty side dishes of grilled aubergine, washed down with home made lemonade. You may have to queue at lunchtime but normally no more than 10-minutes or so and it really is worth it.

The area around the apartment is interesting with many small shops and bistros and feels very safe both day and night. For information - on our departure we needed a taxi and we found a taxi rank opposite the Rambuteau Metro stop (there may be a closer one but we were not sure where), although you can hail taxis in the street.

To summarise - the apartment was so comfortable that we did not not rush out each day to sight-see so we still have many places left to visit. I know we will be back soon and this is definitely where we will be staying again - thank you Berit!
