Description: A typical Parisian brasserie of today ... and of old, emblem of the French family bistro cuisine, our brasserie is a warm and typical place of the capital. Much more than a simple restaurant, it is a place where you can have lunch, or dine, while experiencing Parisian life. With a beautiful terrace which makes the angle of the street of Nesle and the street Dauphine, sunny all day, perfect for a small break during the shopping! We offer dishes typical of the gastronomy and the French brasserie. A few steps from the Pont Neuf and the Ile de la Cité, Le Nesle enjoys a privileged location in the heart of a historic district in the center of Paris. The brewery Le Nesle was founded more than 80 years ago. On the place previously named "La Tour de Nesle" in reference to the famous medieval tower.

100% authentic spirit of Paris, France and Europe for that matter. Social engineering taking place in Brasserie Le Nesle is something well worth visiting Paris for. Decor is untouched since the 80's; Monster Bash pinball machine is somewhat younger, yet the high-score title holder is a gentleman in his 70's who diligently plays every morning since around 10am; haute couture models and on-duty postal delivery men and retired sailors and construction workers all come here for a morning coffee, steak (!) or "Formule Nesle". Some stay for a few minutes, other stay for a lifetime. Indeed, there is a hint of Hotel California about this place.

My daughter and I stopped here to eat on the night of May 9 after a very long day walking around Paris. The atmosphere is okay. We sat at a table on the sidewalk and watched Paris life go by as we had our meal. My daughter had a chicken meal. I had grilled duck which came with frites. We shared a 50ml bottle of wine. All seemed right with the world. Three hours later, things were terribly wrong with the world. I had a clear case of food poisoning that could only have been the wonderful tasting duck I'd enjoyed so much. I had a high fever and threw up what was left of the meal. My daughter was fine - in fact, I didn't even wake her up. Of course what was going through my head was that I'd end up in a Paris hospital for a few days recouperating, and my daughter's first trip outside the U.S. would be memorable, but not exactly for the right reasons.

Fortunately, by morning I was fine and we went on with our vacation as if nothing had happened, although I wasn't exactly in perfect form that following day. I expect that the problem occured as a result of cross contamination of the cooked meat with surfaces that had been in contact with raw meat. That's the most typical scenario. But it could have been anything. I really hate to give this place a poor review because honestly the food was tasty, the wait staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was adequate. But since there's no doubt where my food poisoning came from, I've got to give this place the thumbs down.
