“Some Issues but overall good experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2014

My friend and I stayed here for three nights. Upon arrival we were advised that due to a 'water issue' the twin room we had booked was not available to us and that we would have to have two single rooms. We felt that the real reason was due to overbooking. We were told we would have the best room in the hotel the next day but they couldn't tell us when it would be available perhaps 12pm, suspiciously close to check out and cleaning time.....Anyway as we did not want inconvenience to move we kept single rooms and worked out well as we are two friends. If it was a couple on a romantic trip I would have been raging.

Anyway the rooms themselves were nice spacious by Paris standards, very clean. I had a blocked shower but it was immediately fixed. The staff were so so nice and helpful, one of the best aspects of the hotel. Decent breakfast included and all day snacks nice touch.

Location will suit some, its more or less red light district but its not seedy. Very close to metro. If you turn left at top of the street you are at Moulin Rouge in ten mins and if you turn right you are at the sacre Coeur in 15 mins

I would definitely recommend the hotel and would us Astotel chain again in the future, great find

Everyone we encountered on the staff (reception/concierge, day and night, dining) were extremely helpful and courteous. Service was excellent. Property was very clean, decor and amenities were modern and updated. Provided breakfast was very good with wide range of choice. Afternoon/evening snacks and refrshments also provided. Great value! Room maybe a bit small but okay for Paris. Place is tucked in a quiet, narrow street neighborhood a little bit away from the main Paris touristy spots. Public bus transport close by. Taxis are always just a call away. Short walk to restaurants and market. Thank you for an overall great stay!

Perfect 3-star hotel! Room was spacious and with nice balcony with typical Parisian street/rooftop view. Hotel was clean and modernly furnished, service superb and breakfast was more than we expected. Location was nice, since there are two metro stations nearby. Also both Opera and Mont Martre districts are within walking distance. We definately enjoyed our stay and would stay in Hotel Monterosa again.

Room Tip: 4th floor rooms towards street have a small Parisian balconies.

The service at the desk from all the staff was exceptional, from finding directions to an ATM with reasonable exchange rates, to getting ice for our champaigne, getting us breakfast when we got back from Normandy late, I can not say enough about the staff. I liked the location, just below Moulin Rouge, a short walk to Sacre Cour, The Opera House area, Montmarte, Lafeyette shops etc.. Also a short walk to several Metro stations, Pigale, and St. Geroge, made getting around Paris easy. Typical Paris hotel rooms, a bit cramped, but well appointed. We will come back for our next visit

Stayed at hotel Monterosa in April. We had a nice stay and the service was really good. Nice breakfast and a cool feature with the open bar, where you can enjoy free refreshments from 12 - 10 pm.
The rooms aren't big, but who sits in their room when in Paris
The hotel is perfect for a weekend getaway

We stayed at the hotel Monterosa over Easter weekend. Being so close to Montmatre and Sacre Coeur, the location of the hotel is just perfect for exploring the city, as well as being close to some really great restaurants (try rue de la trois freres for some amazing small restaurants such as le jardin d'en Face).
The hotel itself is clean, and the breakfasts great. However, there were a few disappointments. First of all, the hotel offers a 'complimentary mini bar' which they offer in the breakfast area. Although this is great when you get back from a long day sightseeing (and is clearly a good way to get a lot of positive reviews on here!), it did not have a bar or offer the opportunity to purchase beer or alcoholic beverages, which would have been nice before heading out for the evening. We were also very disappointed with our room allocation as we were given a room on the ground floor next to the breakfast room. This meant that over our three night stay we were woken up at 6:30am every day as they set up the breakfast. As well as this, the nearest toilets to the breakfast room were on the ground floor meaning that as we were getting ready in the morning, we could hear people going in and out of the toilet (as well as using it in some cases). As well as this, the bathroom was quite out of date and the shower didn't have a shower curtain or screen meaning that water flooded the floor. There was also no shower mat which could have posed quite a health and safety risk if we weren't careful.
Having booked the hotel using Avios points, I would imagine this could be why we were allocated one of the poorer rooms in the hotel, but I still feel this wasn't adequate even for the price we paid.

Overall, a good hotel, as long as you ensure you are in one of the main rooms upstairs.

Room Tip: Request a room upstairs, NOT the ground floor!

Hotel Monterosa is a small hotel with only 40 rooms. It is however very nice, modern, clean. Has a small elevator to the rooms besides the escalator. Has a breakfast area with plenty of food to start your day, and also some munchies on display throughout the day until 10 pm. The room we got is small however has everything one needs. There's no formal closet however the shelves were enough for our 2 day stay. Since we were looking for a hotel with central location, clean, quiet to sleep and with good service, Hotel Monterosa was a good choice. The only negative was the AC would not make the room as cold as we wanted, however we left the window open and that did it. Marion and Jean where excellent in helping book restaurants, get a cab and how to walk to stores (by myself) without getting lost. Thank you so much. We will stay again. A small correction. The hotel has No pool but there's no need. PTA from usa.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back which is quiet. You may even sleep with your window open.
