“lovely little hotel in a great location”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

stayed at Le Royal for just one night on the 2nd Jan but i wish it had been longer.
locating the hotel is very easy - the Metro station is less than 1 min walk away and the hotel is very obvious from the outside. it is located in the busy Latin quarter there are a lot of bars and bistros within a 3 min walk.
Once you enter, you notice that everything is spotlessly clean. Reception is fast and efficient and the staff speak perfect English.
We stayed on the 2nd floor so took the lift up - as is the case with a lot of hotels in Paris, the lift is very small with just enough room for 2 people.
The rooms are very comfortable however ours was very warm...... we opened the windows and i was amazed at how they shut out the noise - the room went from silent to very noisy is the matter of one second!
the TV has good reception and there are one or two English speaking channels.
the in room safe is very simple to use. The Hotel WiFi is good with decent speeds.
The bathroom facilities were good - even though small the shower was amazing! especially after getting in from a long day of walking the city!

Breakfast was a typical French breakfast - bread, ham, eggs, preserves, and pastries. Served between 7 and 10am, it was of the buffet style so basically 'all you can eat'! I would suggest you eat a lot if you have a busy day ahead of you.the food quality is good although the water for tea and coffee was warm rather than hot.

i will defiantly be staying here again and i would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice well located hotel in the heart of Paris.

Room Tip: ask for a front of hotel room - although located on a busy street the windows keep the room silent a...

Situated only a minutes walk from Vavin Metro station in the Montparnasse district of Paris, this typically Parisian Hotel offers a discreet and intimate place to stay, with plenty to see and do nearby.

Located in a main Boulevard within ten minutes of a good selection of varied Restaurants, Creperies and interesting little Bars, you'll not need to go far if you're hungry, although the (usually inclusive) Continental breakfast is quite enough to set you up for the day!

The lobby is clean, attentively staffed (Mainly by a very helpful and friendly chap!) with a selection of comfy leather seating, free Nespresso coffee, and leads to the Breakfast room. There is a lift, but the stairs are pretty, and will take you up to the bedrooms. Ours was adequate in size, immaculately decorated in a local theme, with a modern LCD TV, Mini Bar and presentable en-suite. While the view was only to a small rear courtyard, this wasn't an issue as the room was silent at night.

I cannot praise the staff enough, they did everything quickly and efficiently, always with a smile, while keeping the whole place clean and shiny.

This is not quite a boutique hotel, but is pretty enough, very French in theme, and claims to be an Eco Hotel, so enjoys low impact energy features throughout for what it's worth.

Local attractions include the Montparnasse area itself, the Cemetry (Which includes celebrity corpses including Andre Citroen and Jean Paul Sartre and some awesome tombs!) Le Jardin Du Luxembourg and the infamous Montparnasse Tower.

A little further afield, but within an hours gentle stroll are notable landmarks such as the Eiffel tower and Notre Dame. Either way the Metro will take you anywhere for just over a Euro each, and when it's time to go home, Line 4 takes you straight back to Gare Du Nord or CDG Airport.

It might have been nice to have a tea or coffee machine in the bedroom, but Breakfast was free, and coffee only a minute away in the lobby. All the important stuff is present and correct, so it's down to you to choose whats most important! Enjoy...

I've stayed at this hotel twice in the last two years, most recently September 2012. The staff is great, friendly, making great suggestions, letting me test out my high school French, and conversing in English as well. Lovely Continental breakfast. Location close to two metro lines, buses straight up to the Louvre and Place de Clincy, as well as a Big Bus line stop a block away. Would stay here any time I'm in Paris. Comfortable neighborhood!

Travelled to Paris for sightseeing (Nov 2012) and spent 3 nights at this hotel, the location is very convenient as is just around the corner of the metro station. The staff was very friendly and helpful (and I do not speak French at all), Eric at the hotel was extremely resourceful and helpful. Breakfast was included with good selection at the hotel which always a good thing before a full day of sightseeing.
Our room was small but that’s a given at Paris, had no problem with cleanliness and noise at all. Elevator was very small as it just fit 2 person and our luggage, the room I stayed was on the first floor so we just use the stairs. If you enjoy walking (how can you not enjoy walking in Paris), walking to the Luxemburg park is around 10 min from this hotel and I walked to the Banks of Seine one evening and took around 30 min from the hotel.

I felt a little claustrophobic with the long narrow corridor, and dark and small room. The location was good and we were able to get to the places we needed to without any trouble. I wouldn’t stay at Hotel Le Royal on my next visit to Paris.

FOund this hotel to be quite good. I asked for a handicapped room and the room was spacious and very well equipped. Very friendly and helpful staff and a very pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast room was convenient and the breakfast good and ample. TV and WiFi were fine. Very close to Luxembourg Garden and Montparnasse. Construction next to hotel made loading and unloading a bit cumbersome.

I spent one night at Hotel Le Royal and I must say it was very enjoyable. The room was very small but cosy and stylish. It is in a lovely area and if you enjoy walking you will make it to Saint Germain in no time. Staff were nice and helpful and it was just what I needed for my short stay.

Room Tip: I stayed in a standard room which was small but perfect for one person. It may be tight for a couple...
