“Fantastic stay! Gem in the heart of the Latin quarter”
Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Hotel Design Sorbonne from 11th-16th August and had a great summer special offer. As a young (26) couple on a romantic trip to Paris, we had a great time. The hotel is within 5 mins walk to the metro and the RER line, right opposite the Sorbonne and very close to the heart of the Latin quarter. The hotel had recently undergone a refurb and is very modern and quirky! We were greeted by a really friendly young lady on reception who was fantastic throughout our stay. She helped us with any local queries, questions about attractions and transport as well as catering to our every need in the hotel. The rooms are small but very modern. We loved the Apple Mac and free wifi which was a real convenience, particularly when researching the sights! Would highly recommend the hotel for location, friendliness of staff and a modern, quirky atmosphere!

Very pretty, romantic boutique hotel with a lot of charm. We spent a week at the end of July 2013 and stayed in 2 different rooms -- both were lovely. Room #15 was a bigger standard double in light silvery shades, with a much bigger bathroom than room #21 ..also a standard double, with the tiniest bathroom and a lovely black and green decor (see my photos).

Hotel was very clean, beds comfortable. All rooms have a computer, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a safe. Location, on a quiet street in Latin Quarter, is near many famous sites: Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens, Cluny Museum, Notre Dame.. old market street rue Mouffetard is also close and is lined with small boutiques, bakeries and cafés. There are many stores on nearby Bd St-Michel, including a Monoprix department store with a supermarket downstairs (open Mon-Sat, 9am to midnight).

Nearest metro station Cluny-La Sorbonne is a 5-7 minute walk from hotel. And from CDG airport one can take the RER B commuter train direct to Luxembourg RER station, that's a few minute walk from hotel (exit Bd St-Michel/Rue Gay-Lussac is the closest).

Overall a great quality stay in a great location and I would agree with the other reviews, very friendly staff and they truly make the hotel.
Bathrooms are small but efficient. Not much room for luggage, wardrobes are small, so it works for short stays. Alarm clock could be a nice little addition and a short info?directory would be helpful too. Housekeeping service was prompt and friendly whenever asked for something.
Friendly advice to the hotel: do not take out the waste bins too early out in the morning, awful noise in the inner courtyard...
Breakfast was good, although basic.
We would stay there again, great location.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor and inner courtyard room, quieter.

Fabulous little hotel in a central location. Decorated to a high standard, rooms are clean and well maintained. Excellent use of space in this little hotel. Great location for the metro and RER. Plenty of shops and bistros nearby that charge reasonably for food and drink. Definitely recommend it and would stay there again

The location of the hotel is ideal, right on the doorstep of Sorbonne university and 5 minutes walk from Notre Dame and 10 minutes from the Luxembourg Gardens. There is plenty of bistros, cafes and few shops nearby, so if you don't want to eat your breakfast in the hotel you are spoilt for choice. We stayed there for 3 nights, ate the hotel breakfast only on the last day. The breakfast room is small but really cute( like everything in this place)and the food was very nice, enough to chose from and high quality. The staff in the hotel were all very friendly, happy and keen to answer all of our inquiries- 5 stars for hospitality for all of them. Our bed was really comfortable, which I think is really important after all day of walking :-) The lift is a size of a coffin and if you have a large suitcase you will have a problem to fit in with it. Having said that, we had a chance to check that it is indeed 3 persons lift. One of the staff members got in there with us as she had to go up on the floor to give me the iron and ironing board, it was a bit awkward as we were so squeezed but that's ok :-) we didn't mind:-) All in all it is a quirky and charming place, beautifully designed with fabric " wall papers",free wifi and Mac computer in a room are a big bonus, air con works just fine but I gave it only 4 stars not 5, as there is no coffee/ tea facilities in the hotel ( thankfully there is a Starbucks 5 minutes away), and the toilet is tiny. And I mean TINY. But all in all, we would stay there again.

Lovely little hotel. Everything was pleasant. We had enjoyed our stay from the moment we stepped in till our last moment. Most friendly and helpful stuff, nice atmosphere, great breakfast , clean and elegant. We had a great stay and will come back for more soon.

Room Tip: The basic standard rooms are small, but that's Paris.

We spent 4 nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful and the location was perfrect for visiting many areas of Paris by foot. The rooms are all decorated in vibrant wallpaper and like most Paris hotels you need to expect good use of space.
