“Try to avoid weekends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

We were privileged enough to have a friends apartment in the heart of the Marais for a week and while we hit all the must see spots for tourists in the city - our favourite neighbourhood was the Marais. Simply walking the ancient streets, exploring cafes and the numerous parks and people watching was a delight. The parks are oases, beautifully maintained and each one unique...many of the locals take their sandwich and flask of coffee (I think it was coffee!) and delight in their surroundings...many of the parks have free WiFi. For a different type of eating experience visit the Marche des Enfants Rouges where under tented canopies various food stalls offer their fresh wares - there is seating too. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy these streets and if you can avoid weekends...but not at the cost of avoiding the Marais!

“Great collection of shops and restaurants”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

This is a small, walkable, very neat section of Paris. You will find interesting shops, and great crepes and falafel shops. It's an easy walk or metro ride from anywhere in the city.

“Great for shopping or wandering”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

I love the Marais because it is so easy to just get lost in the "French-ness" of it all. Beautiful architecture, adorable shops. There is so much life and character on every street.

“Great for walking and watching”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

I love this area and have visited many times. The latest time was with my husband and we went to museums and poked our noses into gorgeous courtyards, drank much coffee and had some lovely meals. The shops are fun and there are a couple of great vintage clothes shops, which are reasonably priced. The Musee Carnavalet is a delight and the nightlife can be interesting, especially at the weekend.
