Owner description: Located on a land-filled swamp, this revitalized neighborhood, once a center of high culture, fell into disrepair following the French Revolution, but has regained prominence.

It was a nice surprise to find the streets less crowded midweek when we arrived. Last time we were there was a weekend and it was hard to move freely.

Away from all tourist highlights, this is another 'must see' and 'must spend some time'. We loved being here and relaxing at the Place du Voges!

We rented an apartment in the Marais arondissment and loved the choice of restaurants, shops and proximity to the sights, especially the Pompidou Centre and Notre Dame. Great range of vintage shops for super shoppers. Harry Potter fans can get photo on Rue Nicholas Flamel (Philosophers Stone)

This is Paris' Greenwich Village. It's trendy. It's gay. It's got great restaurants. It's safe. It's Jewish. It has great clothing stores. Le Marais ("The Swamp") is a great part of the city to stay in as it is also where real people live and has wonderful amenities.

Must go here to experience an old fashioned style of Café life and get to a proper Kosher Restaurant. Lovely vibe here and next time I will stay in this area too - must try the caraway seed bread - awesome!!
