“Disgusting!!!”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

My husband and I have been traveling for nearly 4 months now, have been to over 30 countries and 100 cities and this is by far the WORST hostel we have stayed in. First off - just because Paris is the city of love doesn't mean you can leave the "love" stains on the sheets! No free Wifi, one toilet/ shower per floor, nowhere to wash your hands, no lift, cost to hire sheets, unfriendly staff, WAY over priced for what it is.... I would prefer to sleep on the street than to stay here again.

Room Tip: The street is better than this place.

What the website says about lockers, wifi, towels, is a total lie. Even if you can get over being kicked out of the rooms you pay for during 4 hours of the day, and the moldy bathroom walls, there is lots more you will have to live with:
a) There is no kitchen for the guests to use. I assumed every hostel has something for its guests to prepare food, but I was mistaken! It was my mistake, but the cooking facilities (microwave) that they do have mysteriously makes appearances and disappearances. Like a vampire, the microwave is gone by morning and only appears again at night. It seems to be out of spite (and to exercise their non-existing power,) they take it away so you can’t even warm your stale vending-machine croissant they call breakfast..
b) It seems to be their mission to disperse guests in stead of fostering an environment where guests can meet other guests. The hostel’s tiny, tiny common area has a large TV which is constantly blaring 80s music with its accompanying music videos. Some might find it “groovy”, and admittedly I don’t mind listening to it on the radio occasionally… But in general, this kind of music and bad-quality music videos are not young people’s cup of tea. Even if you can withstand the bad taste, you can’t have a proper conversation over the blaring music, or stay there past 12 for reasons only God knows.
c) When you need assistance they do nothing to help you. I know this is France, where you re not expected to have the same level of customer concern/service and I’m accustomed to in Canada, but I would prefer not to have the concierge shrug his shoulder at me when I said the plug in our room wasn’t working. (On a side note, there is one plug in the bedroom for 4 girls to use, its very nice when even this source of energy ceases to work)
d) Maybe the young generation has become addicted to the internet, in fact I’m sure its true. But when you are traveling in a foreign country, family members usually hope for some sort of a connection to know if you are still alive. It is pathetic that the hostel doesn’t offer wi-fi to its guests but even worse are the prices it charges for an hour of Internet. The silly people who fall for it and buy internet time (as I did) will find themselves working a pre-historic computer with magnified screen for 80yr olds while everyone else in the room can see what you gingerly type on the screen and point out your spelling mistakes.
Choose wisely my friends

Having read the horror stories below I was pretty worried I was in for a real shocker. To be completely honest, the bed was clean enough and the showers and toilets worked. But here's the thing: if you can get another Paris hostel, even if it's another 10euros a night then do it. Find somewhere that is not damp, has lockers/storage, has wifi, personable staff and more than one toilet per floor. Which is another way of saying, you get what you pay for.

Honestly! I read these reviews and thought, "oh they're just being fussy, I don't need much, it'll be fine" I'm honestly not a fussy backpacker, I need a clean room and I'm fine....big mistake.

My experience wasn't as bad as some but the rooms are tiny, the bathroom door didn't close, the shower door kept falling off the rollers, the bathroom floor flooded everytime you turned the tap on, which wouldnt matter except (due to rotted boards and what may or may not be termites) there was a 4inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor.

The one toilet that serviced the entire floor was continuously unclean, the boards are all rotting and the pipes are leaking.

DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! The only way I would stay here again would be if it were free.

Read these comments, they are all true! First night we went there, there was a piece of raw MEAT under our bed and our sheets were covered in some kind of white powder and dots... This place is a serious risk for your health and getting a disease of somewhat wasn`t very far. There were at least 32 cameras in the hostel, which was creepy as hell. In the mornings at 11:00 people come knock your door and yell YOU MUST LEAVE, IT`S 11!!, great way to start your day.

The showers were horrible, straight from the horror movie. COLD water and the condition of the showers was just awful... holes in the walls and pipes weaving in your legs! The whole place has really serious moisture problems and you could see with your own eyes that there were MOLD eveywhere! It`s not coincindence that our throats were hurting in the mornings, only time in our trip..

We tought that this is only a place to stay but almost ruined our Paris. If you don`t have any other choice, which we didn`t have, go and stay outside of the city, this place ain`t worth a single penny and should be destroyed to the ground!

BED BUGS! Came out savaged.
Dirty floor.
Dirty sheets.
Sheets and pillow smelled of urine.
Shared dorm bathroom door didn't shut.
Bed's were broken.
1 plug socket per room...broken anyway.
Filthy shower.
1 key per room, other people fell asleep so couldn't get in.
No lockers in shared rooms.

Despite being the cheapest hostel in Paris pretty much, I think sleeping on the Metro would have been preferable!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere!

the standards of this hostel were purely "french" (as an English would say)........ utmost pathetic... from this hostel i realized why people call the french as rude........

the room was to accomodate 5 people, with 5th bunk on the floor. the room was meant like a cage. with 5th bunk out (from underneath the other bunk), hardly was there any space to walk

the washroom was as if imported from afghanistan. inside the tiles were broken and even the lock was missing with a big hole, totally destroying ur privacy. even the doors wont close properly.

the attitude of the 2 hosts (other than one young man) was apathetic and least concerned....

book this hostel, destroy ur trip to this beautiful city and get a good taste of french attitude.....
