“Perfect bijou hotel in Paris”
Reviewed October 21, 2011

Stayed here for two nights in October 2011. The location - being almost literally right next door to the Musee D'Orsay was perfect - both for business and pleasure.
Rooms are small - aren't they all in Paris - but are wonderfully quirky. Slight downside in mine was the lack of a proper shower but otherwise a perfectly functional room for sleeping. It was also very quiet at night which is always a relief in any major city.
Breakfast was excellent (although I think it might be expensive) - lots to choose from and a relxed start to the day in the funky basement area.
Final good point is the staff - who were very friendly and helpful - not least in serving us a drink after midnight when the bar was officially closed (although quite why the guy had to keep walking downstairs to the basement every time ice was required was beyond me).

Bottom line - I'd have no trouble recommdning this place as somewhere great to stay in Paris.

We're frequent visitors to Paris, and recently spent a long weekend at le Bellechasse. The hotel is small, and exceptionally located in the 7th arrondissement, next to the Musee d'Orsay. I would not recomend this area at the height of the tourist season, but it's excellent at other times of the year.

The hotel was designed by Christian Lacroix, so its decor is beautiful. However, the rooms are small. We were first given an "Original" room, which is in the middle of the three room categories available. While the room was small and charming, it lacked a proper shower. We felt that was unreasonable, given the hotel's four star rating and prices, and requested a different room. We ended up in a small, and fairly ordinary room in the "Discovery" category.

The hotel staff were friendly, but not overly attentive or helpful. Overall, an enjoyable experience, but we would probably choose a different hotel next time.

Room Tip: If a shower is important, request a room with one in advance.

As noted by many reviewers, the location of the hotel cannot be beat and makes it easier to overlook some of the negatives of the hotel. The rooms are tiny (at least the one we stayed in). We stayed for 4 nights and it was quite cramped. The bathroom setup was very awkward. Make sure you know the person you're traveling with well! There was a separate WC with thin walls, and the rest of the bathroom area (tiny sink and shower) did not have a full door. Strange. The decor makes it interesting, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Let's start by the positive: The hotel is very good located : nice district, 50 m from Museum of Orsay and the RER station. 10mn from St-Germain des Pres. Very quite.
BUT the rooms are very very small and the so called "by Christian Lacroix decoration" seems to allow the staff of the hotel to save on the maintenance: bath tube's tap was droping and towel-rail was broken. I mentioned it immediately to the staff, who didn't react at all before we left!!!
We also dislike that the bathroom was not realy a room but a corner in the bed-room. This new fashion can work in a larger room, but not here: absolutely no space to put his toiletries! We didn't take our Breakfast at the hotel because it was served in an underground room, without any natural light. Terrible to wake up!

A perfect location less than a half block from the Seine, right next to the Musee d'Orsay (and the Musee d'Orsay subway stop), and right across the river from the Jardin des Tuileries. My husband and I loved walking the city - this hotel was ideally located to do just that. Our room was small (by an American's standards), without a view, but very modern and impressively well-designed by Christian Lacroix. A key criteria for me is always the bathroom - again, very clean and modern. The "shower" is a hand-held nozzle (pretty standard for European hotels). The TV channel selection was minimal, but who goes to Paris to watch TV in their hotel room?

The woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. When we arrived, we got upgraded to a deluxe room. If your hotel standard is The Four Seasons, this hotel isn't for you. But it's a great boutique hotel in a perfect location that is reasonably priced.

I wish I could add half-circles to the overall ratings: this would be a 4.5 of 5.0.

The Bellechasse is a member of SLHW and is one of the AA's handful of luxury hotels in Paris, alongside Le Crillon. It is difficult to understand why.
The location could not be better for those who prefer le rive gauche. It is a few steps from the Musee d'Orsee. Additionally it has very comfortable, though not large, beds. Finally the staff were quite pleasant.
Anyone booking should understand quite how small it is though. We booked a Privilege room, the largest available, but were amazed how small it and the hotel itself actually were. The room was on the top floor and so was in the eaves. The available space was much smaller than the footprint would suggest because the eaves meant that one could not walk all over the room. In fact about one third of the room was only of use for suitcases. Could not even sit in a chair.
The wall paper was fabulous but the TV was on a wall bracket which extended 9 inches into the room. Doesn't sound much but given the overall dimensions we kept bumping into it when walking round the bed.
The public spaces were equally small. There is only one unisex toilet serving the bar and breakfast room and we found each morning the corridor from our room to the lift - one metre wide - was blocked by the maid's trolley and laundry bags.
The service was not bad insofar as the staff were polite. It was though non existent - no porter to take bags to or from the room, no evening turn down service and poor local knowledge - even to the extent of not knowing of quite a renowned restaurant 2 streets away.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comment posted on TripAdvisor further to your recent stay at Le Bellechasse Saint-Germain.
We think you are mistaken about comparing our hotel and Le Crillon because we are not member of Small Leading Hotel of the World.
If you are a repeat guest in such hotels we can understand that Le Bellechasse doesn't match all your expectations.
Sincerely.
