“Dirty and dangerous”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

The room and the bathroom were very dirty and smelly with mold everywhere. The breakfast was really poor. The hotel was in work with some dangling electrical cables in the room. Very unsufficient staff.

Room Tip: An advise : never go there !

See title, I travelled a lot in europe from cheap to expensive places but this was the worst exp. of my life. The room was dirty, the bed cover visibly covered with dirt and marks, the bathroom smelled like a sewer, there were holes in the wall, cables hangimg out from nowhere. When we asked for another room they refused so had no choice and moved out and booked another hotel which was perfect. (Ibis port d'orleans, see my review there.) Wouldnt suggest to anyone to go there.

Reasonable value and only availability at late notice. It's basic, but room is clean. Smacks of cheapness, but bathroom is recently renovated & modern. Breakfast adequate but a bit pricey for a croissant, bread & jam. Not a place I'd choose again, although good bars and restaurants in walking distance.

Cheap hotel with not much luxury for the city tripper that just needs a place to sleep in Paris.
The hotel is a bit old-fashioned but if you spend only a few hours (just to sleep), it's ok and you'll have no time to worry about what could be better.

Well, well, well... Hard to write a review on this experience... Ok, there are holes in the walls, holes in the roof, the furniture is old and the flat screen TV is not working... So if you're a 5 stars hotel fan you'll probably not consider to stay a night at the Roi Rene, BUT....

If you, if you consider that :

1. The hotel is ideally located 3 minutes from the Metro portes de clichy and Brochant
2. The Rooms and bathroom are very clean
3. The Staff is very nice and helpfull
4. They make up the room every 2 days and really take care of your stuff
5. There is a vending machine at the reception with drinks and M&M's
6. The breakfast is nice with croissant, bread and orange juice, tea, coffee or chocolate for EUR 6.00
7. There is a good wireless connection for EUR 2.00 per day

The price you pay for a stay in Paris is really worth.

Room Tip: Ask a room on the back of the hotel, it is much more quiter.

There is the rebuilding in the hotel in this time so we stayed in the absolutely new room.
Room and bathroom were very clean and the cleaning and changing of the towels were every day.
Comfortable bed.
You could see the top of Eiffel tower from the 5th floor.
Near by the hotel is a lot of restaurants and bakeries.

There was missing a wardrobe for the clothes – it could replace un-functional refrigerator.

For a 6 night stay, I paid only 160€ (26€ per night); so I didn't expect a great hotel. Cleaning and maintenance are the downside of the "Roi Rene": the carpet was stained and I found hair on the blanket! In the stairway there were live wires just dangling over the wall.
However the staff is very kind and helpful: when our shower broke they repaired it in only one day.
The location is also very good: the hotel is only a 3 minute walk from the nearest metro station (Brochant; line 13). It only takes 15 minutes to get to the Effeil tower.
I don't suggest paying 6€ for breakfast: on the same road of the hotel there are two baker shops where you can buy fantastic croissants for just 0.90€

Room Tip: Get a room on the last floor
