Owner description: This twice weekly open-air fruit and vegetable market attracts large crowds, especially on Sunday.

Our good fortune saw us in an apartment/hotel Citadines Marais Bastille situated just up the road from this lovely market.
As luck would have it we arrived on a Sunday morning early off the overnight train from Barcelona and had time to kill before our room was ready, so we saw the market in all its finery.
The fresh seafood, fruit and vegetables and cheese stalls were so delightfully presented.
It all looked marvellously fresh and we were offered lots of fruit samples to try.The strawberries were to die for.
There are also stalls that sell hand bags and shoes, scarfs and hats, hair bits and bobs. The flower stalls are also quite beautiful, but get there early because when I went back to buy later in the day ( about 1:30pm) they were in the process of closing up.

This is also known as the Bastille market and is ABSOLUTELY wonderful. The variety is amazing. Don't eat before you get there and have a crepe made in front of you... and then sample the fruit, veggies, cheese or other treats. They have everything from plants to seafood to mushrooms to clothing and fragrances. Do not miss it!

We enjoyed it very much!

Got there on Sunday morning and spent almost an hour and a half inhaling the Parisian market shopping athmosphere. You have got every possible kind of food, snatched by the locals, as well as flowers and various tourist merchandise (not too much though, dont count on souveniers!)

The only are of improvement would be very little stalls with prepared food or drinks - you get pretty thirsty and hungry at the very early stage of your visit...:)

Come here for crepes, bread, fruits, flowers or just wander around. It's pretty compact so get something to eat and have a picnic elsewhere. Friendly enough people.

This is probably the best market in Paris. Everywhere in Paris, you can find small or big markets, but this one is not only big, but still authentic. Parisians I know have their favourite sellers, but I think you should look around first and then see what you would like to buy. You have a good choice of organic vegetables and other produce like cheese and butter. At one of the stands you can find eggs from different birds. I always buy my goose- and duckliver from one of the sellers: he has different varieties. Often, there are several winesellers. And as other already have pointed out it is perfect to buy a grilled chicken here and some vegetables for your lunch!
