My wife and I spent three nights at the Hotel du College de France. Had a typical tiny room, but with a comfortable bed and a couple of tiny balconies. The price was pretty good, and, although breakfast was not included in our price, there are decent breakfast options in the neighborhood. The best thing is the location in the Latin Quarter. Very close to the Pantheon, and very close to all of the Latin Quarter restaurants and bars. Two subway stations made the rest of Paris accessible. Rooms were quiet and comfortable. If the price is right, this is a great place to stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights in mid-June. Had double room with balcony. Room was not spacious but clean and had everything we needed except a mini-fridge! The staff were always very helpful and friendly. We had the 10E breakfast which was worth it for us to just come downstairs and have buffet. The location was perfect for sight-seeing and using the Hop On/Off Bus. Easy walk to the Seine and we always felt safe even late at night. The hotel is tucked away on a quiet street.

Room Tip: We chose a balcony room which was lovely to be able to sit outside in the morning or evening!

This was our first time in Paris and based on the great TripAdvisor reviews, we chose this hotel. It was a great experience! The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and very patient with our terrible French. The rooms are clean and it is tucked away on a side street so very quiet. Free wi-fi helped keep our data charges down. We elected to eat breakfast out and about, rather than the continental breakfast offered, but other guests said it was nice. A short walk to Notre Dame and the Seine. Just a few blocks from the purple line stop that will take you directly from Gare du Nord if you are travelling by Eurostar. No need for a taxi!

We had a great stay in May at the Hotel du College de France. I chose this hotel for our stay for several reasons. It was the first time in Paris for one of our family members, and I wanted to be in the Latin Quarter for its proximity on foot to what I consider the heart of Paris. It is such easy access on the RER line from CDG, as well as two other metro lines. It's on a quiet side street, but close to markets, cafes, and my favorite haunts. The price was excellent. The reviews were good. And all of these reasons combined to make this a perfect home base for our 3 nights.

The rooms served their purpose very nicely, the bed was comfortable, and the big bathroom with a tub was a pleasant surprise. So often the bathrooms in older hotels are cramped and retrofitted, but not this one! By 11 pm, all was quiet, and we could sleep with the windows open. We had their breakfast for convenience's sake on the first morning, and actually found it to be a good value for what was offered, though there are many cafes close-by.

I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Balconies were booked up months ahead, but our room without a balcony was quite nice.

On a recent two-week tour through France and Italy, we stayed at six different hotels – all of which were selected based on locations and price, input from Trip Advisor (taking comments with a grain of salt), suggestions from friends, and viewing individual hotel websites. This hotel was the first, for the first two nights after arriving from the States early in the morning. Here are our impressions (Room 54), which echo many of the other reviews:

• Despite the location close to bustling areas, this sidestreet is very quiet. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from the Seine and Notre Dame, as well as the Parthenon.
• Since we arrived so early, we had to just leave our bags at the front desk and go sightseeing. Couldn’t check in until later in the afternoon, as expected.
• The staff were very helpful with finding restaurants and sightseeing directions and spoke English very well. They were even moderately patient with my broken French.
• My husband’s camera broke the first night – we found an electronics store called Darty just a short distance away – similar to a Best Buy.
• Wifi worked very well and had a strong signal.
• Shower had good hot water and pressure. Our room didn’t have a tub – just a shower.
• We didn’t try their breakfast – there were plenty of cafes nearby.
• It was very easy to get here from the CDG airport. They have the directions posted on the website. Simply get on the RER towards Robinson/Saint Remy les Chevreuses. Get off at “Saint Michel/Notre Dame/Cluny la Sorbonne” stop.
• Calling the rooms small is not an exaggeration, though I understand this is the norm for Paris. It’s a VERY tight squeeze with two people and luggage for two weeks. Not much room to turn around in the bathroom. It’s nice that there’s an elevator – it can only take two people OR one person and a suitcase!
• Full-size bed was comfortable.
• When you leave the hotel for sightseeing, you give your keys to the desk .
• One suggestion is that it would be nice to have Kleenex/tissues provided in the room.
• We had two excellent dinners at these nearby restaurants: Le Petit Prince de Paris and La Petite Perigourdine (the 2nd one was less expensive).
• Nice little balcony with table and chairs.

Stayed three nights in April and would highly recommend this hotel. We had a bit of a problem on the first night - when we returned to our room after dinner there was water dripping through the ceiling in the bathroom! We were quickly moved to another room and offered a free breakfast for our inconvenience. The location was ideal - near to bus stops and the metro and surrounded by bars and restaurants, but on a quiet street so we slept well. Very reasonably priced too!

We made a return trip to Paris and were satisfied enough with Hotel du College de France that we decided to stay here the second time around. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed and our room was ready. We got the same exact room as 2 years ago! Needless to say, we love the location, close to Notre Dame, restaurants and Metro! We did not have their breakfast which is extra BUT we did enjoy many crepes and baguettes from the bakery in front of the Metro station (Maubert-Mutualite).

** our room was not cleaned for 2 days (we made sure to put the sign outside our door for cleaning). We didn't take it to heart, we were in Paris! But for others this might be a small problem
