this was a great little snack along the way. The food was really good, my pastry was SO FRESH! My friend got a salad that was excellent as well. It is however, like everything in Paris very expensive- but if you are in need of a quick & yummy snack - stop here.

We stumbled upon the wonderful find by accident and it became a daily treat! The pastries are fabulous as were the various lunch selections. Loved the location too!

Every time I am in Paris, I make it a point to have lunch here. Then stay for a few hours more, lingering over a pot of tea until I am ready for some of their wonderful desserts. They have two addresses in Paris and the one I visit is at 7, rue Fleurus just a block away from the Luxembourg Gardens. The quiches are supurb with plenty of vegetable and buttery crusts. The accompanying salad is overflowing the plate and is topped with the most delicious mustard dressing. A hint of dill just makes the salad bright and flavorful. But wait... the bread basket contains some amazing breads, freshly baked and always different. Chat with the staff there and they will welcome you each time you visit. And definitely don't pass up dessert. The cheesecake is divine. Take home some brioche and turn the leftovers into the best overnight French Toast ever made.

[Bread and Roses has two locations. This is a review of the branch located on 7, Rue Fleurus].
Paris is just full of little gems. The problem is that they are so hard to find! If you go to the places that every guidebook reviews, they are packed, expensive, and frequently the quality is not so good. Like the reviewer below, we discovered Bread and Roses during online investigation.
Since we love good bread, we decided to stop by. We designed one of our long walks around Paris so that it concluded near here and stopped by Bread and Roses for lunch. We ordered a goat cheese tart to share and absolutely loved it. We were really impressed with the presentation and the service. We actually took a photo of the tart, which we don't usually do. The artisanal lemonade they sell by the glass and the bottle was very nice. We couldn't find that brand anywhere else we went in Paris, including Le Grand Epicerie.
We also bought 3 or 4 breads to take away. The fougasse was a revelation of texture and flavor. I thought we bought enough for a day, and it was gone three hours later! The breads we had were the best bread we had during our visit to Paris. We ate every crumb. We're no experts, that was our experience. We really wanted to get back here and get more of this fabulous, lovely bread, but there is so much to do and our meandering didn't take us back this way on this trip. We will definitely go back for more on our next trip!

I'd heard about B&R through David Leibovitz's blog and had to see it for myself. It was just as described only better. The food, the setting, the philosophy, everything was magical and perfect. It's tucked on a perfect street just off place Madeleine and must be experienced to be believed. Every trip back to paris will include this wonderful place.
