“Very nice but not as amazing as we expected it to be”
Reviewed November 27, 2011

I was a little dissapointed in my recent stay, not because anything was badly wrong, in fact the hotel was spotlessly clean, in a safe, nice area and well appointed. The staff were also good especially the reception. We had a knock at the door each evening to see if we wanted extra towels and really enjoyed our stay. I just expected something extra special with such great reviews and compared to recent trips to other 4 star places in Venice, Hotel Stern for instance. The location could have been nearer to a metro and it was at the top end of St Germain so an uphill walk after a busy day walking in Paris. The breakfast could be improved by offering eggs and having more attentive staff rather than a buffet and an occasional staff member who looked like they needed extra help when busy. The first day I was offered coffee the second I was asked what type of coffee by a different person and had French which was much nicer. Would have been good to have been offered the choice too on the first day. The hotel photos shows a atmospheric library with fire but in reality it is very small, a little brightly lit and no fire lit despite it being End of November. it also looks bigger than it actually is, the guest public areas are tiny. The bath was very narrow, ok for us a we are quite small but for a larger man I think it could be a problem. There was no menu for room service although not a problem as we did not require this , but I always like to have a look anyway. All in all it just lacked atmosphere and some extra special touches for the cost but it is Paris and I think I would find it hard to find anything much better but still going to keep on trying.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the park. I did request this and was told they would try but we did no...

I booked a standard room and thought it was way too small. The hotel is OK and located in one of the nicest areas of Paris, in the 6th arrondissement, right accross from the Luxembourg garden and the service is very good but really for that price I expected a bit much in terms of space.

I had requested one king size bed but unfortunately got a room with 2 small beds connected, maybe that is all they have there.

It is a 4 star hotel but the towels were quite old, 2 days out of 3, I had some of the oldest towels I've ever seen.

I have been going here for years. The people are wonderful, the location is great, and the rooms are very nice. Here is the caveat: so many Americans have been enamored by this hotel, that it has turned into a haven for Americans. I barely even heard another language spoken when I was here last. So, it that is okay with you, this is the place. If you want a bit more eclectic in a foreign county, but may want to consider somewhere else. I'll go back because I love it, but as a lot of Americans use and love Trip Advisor, it has caused a bit of an influx here...

Lovely (small) room, excellent service, wonderful location (top of Quartier Latin)...a bit pricey for what you get, but in Europe these days, probably a good value.

Quibbles...why the two skinny comforters instead of one that covers the whole bed? Weird. No hair conditioner? Seriously?

Good stuff...terrific workout area, fantastic coffee service, great people.

You can get a 5-star hotel a lot cheaper anywhere else in France, but this is good value in a 4-star - small room, but very nice and right across the street from Luxembourg Gardens. Well appointed, great location.

We have been to Paris several times and stayed in range of hotels from 3 to 5 star and overall think this small and friendly place the best. Classic and comfortable rooms and an excellent location near the fashionable shopping area around Le Bon Marche and opposite the lovely Luxembourg gardens. Not cheap but you can get a very big discount if you book if you book and pay well in advance, The lift was a bit problematic whilst we were there but it is doubtless fixed by now.

Room Tip: Our room 36 was very good but next time we might try for the larger corner room on the 4th floor (at...

We have tried many hotels in Paris but Hotel Luxembourg Parc stood out in its own class. We stayed for 7 nights in room 51, the largest suite in the hotel. Since we were staying for a week with our 4 year old daughter, I was concerned if we would feel really crammed. The suite was so well designed that we really felt very comfortable. The two bathrooms are at the one end of the suite, adjacent to the dressing area with two large closets, and the sleeping area was separated from the sitting area by heavy curtains. The furnishing was elegant and pleasant. The location of the hotel is superb, being across the street from Luxembourg and walking distance to a few nice restaurants (3 great casual Italian restaurants within 5 min of walk, the best place for macaroons in the city), St Sulprice and St Germain.
