“Small but Nice”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

A recently refurburished hotel with good transport links and reasonable restaurants nearby. 20 mins to Madeleine and under 30 to Gare de Lyon. Hotel however precharged me 2 months prior to arrival as I had reserved a non refundable room. Breakfast is French continental buffet. Staff very helpful. Rooms small, a common theme in Paris. Quiet rooms at the back and the front rooms on 5th and 6th floors have views to Notre Coeur Church. In all worth considering.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms at the back and the front rooms on 5th and 6th floors have views to Notre Coeur Church.

We stayed for three nights at the end of April 2012 and received a warm welcome from all the staff. The hotel is recently reopened after a massive refurbishment so we found out about it through a friend who lives literally around the corner from it as the hotel website isn't up and running yet. As well as French, naturally, most of the staff spoke English well and had smatterings of other languages too. When we stayed the staff managed to communicate with French, English, German, Dutch, Spanish and Swedish guests. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. No room for a bed for our son (who, at 9 years old, is still too young for a room of his own in a hotel) but a single airbed from home soon sorted out that problem and our son loved it. That and the wall mounted TV. And the lift as well although he enjoyed racing up and down the very curvy stairs to beat us old fogies in the lift. For a short stay the room provided plenty of storage space but only a few clothes hangers so bring your own if you have more than 6 things that need hanging up. The continental breakfast was plentiful and free and the staff had plenty of advice on attractions and places to eat in Montmartre and further into town. Parking nearby is a reasonable €23.00 per night (24 hours). We will definitely stay here at the Prince Montmartre again on our next trip to Paris. The metro (Jules Joffren) is only 350 metres from the hotel and is easy to use and the number 80 bus by the metro will take you close to the tour Eiffel (you need the bus stop École Militaire) without having to chop and change trains. The only things missing were the tea making facilites in the rooms and the need for slightly bigger bins as one empty bottle filled the bin provided in our room to capacity. But those are niggles that are being rectified over the next few weeks. If you are looking for a comfortable and reasonably priced hotel in Paris then book here at the Prince Montmartre.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the 4th, 5th or 6th floors and at the back so that you can have the window open but...
