“A bit out of the way”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

This is a surprisngly expensive hotel for what you get - the room was fine but there are no facilties of any sort, and the location is somewhat inconvenient; the lift is up some stairs so access is awkward, and the whole place feels a little cramped. It was clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, but wouldn't rush back given the choice of hotels in Paris.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review.
We are very sorry that you did not feel comfortable during you stay as the rooms were not as big as you expected.
Our hotel is a mansion house style one with moulders and ancient parisian architecture.

Service is our main concern that is why our staff will always be as helpful as possible to make your stay a wonderful experience.

Best regards,

The BEST WESTERN Elysées Paris Monceau Team

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with my family of four (2 rooms). Nothing bad to say about it. Rooms are a little small but very comfortable and nice. Beds are comfortable, staff are nice, and the hotel is in a great location. We walked to Champ Elysees and to Notre Dame from this hotel. Cab ride to Eiffel tower is only about 12 euros. Metro is 5 minutes away. There are plenty of restaurants close by to choose from. Fully recomend and would go back.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for your review.
Side by side rooms are available for families. Our rooms are in a parisian style, with mouldings.

It seems you enjoyed most of the main attractions Paris can offers. However have you tried Montmartre or the Grand Palais ?

We are looking forward welcoming for your next stay in Paris, as a family or as couple !

Good hotel in a good location. Fit for purpose. Comfortable. Convenient. Friendly staff. Room was small but sufficient. Can be recommended. Had to take taxi to and from airport. 50 euros from airport 35 to airport.

Room Tip: Didn't use Fitness center or Spa

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Tripadvisor.

The hotel is close to St Lazare, the Batignolles area, the Opera and a few steps from the Villiers station to go to Montmartre or the Arc de Triomphe. We hope you had enough time to visit them.

We are looking forward welcoming you again for your next stay in Paris,

I often use this hotel as main base during my stays.
Everything if fine, and breakfast on the top terrace with a view of the center is amazing.
I only have two concerns:
- sometimes I get single -bed rooms instead of a double-for-single-use
- bedrooms on the street are noisy and pollution tends to get inside

Dear Guest,

First of all thank you for your review and for being a repeat customer.

We have to correct some part of your comment.
Indeed we do not have a top terrace but balconies in some rooms.
You can have breakfast either in the lovely breakfast room or it served in your room with a supplement.

Best regards,

First of all I’d like to take the opportunity to respond to various comments about the hotel’s room sizes. Please understand that you are staying in a good location in a mid-class hotel in Paris, which is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Do you honestly expect a huge room for that price?

I myself found the room decent enough. It’s not very big but it’s okay. The room is nice, air-conditioned and clean. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. Also the staff is friendly and offer to answer any question you might have about the hotel, public transport or sights in Paris. The reception is available 24/7. A map of Paris is also available with the reception.

Breakfast is available daily between 7 A.M. and 10 A.M. on floor -1 and is pretty good. There’re croissants, baguette and regular slices of bread available. Various kinds of meat, cheese and jam. Also of course coffee, tea, milk, jus d’orange and another juice. There’s fresh fruit and several kinds of pudding available. Nothing else you might need!

The hotel has no restaurant to service lunch or dinner. Most of the Paris hotels do not have a restaurant. There's plenty of restaurants available near the hotel.

Overall this is a good hotel and I would recommend anyone to stay here. It’s about 300 meters to the closest metro station and from where you can easily travel to any destination in Paris.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Having such great comments is really encouraging for us.

As you mentionned it, our breakfast buffet is available every day in a totally renovated and lovely breakfast room.

Your pictures show your room on the 6th floor, in the eaves. We hope you enjoyed it.

I stayed here during the 3rd week of Jan 2013. While some of the things about the hotel were nice, some were not so nice.

Arrival: I had made a reservation online and had paid the full stay amount in advance. I had booked and paid a higher price for the Double Room with a Balcony. Upon arrival at 4pm I was told to wait as they would see if that room was available for me. I was a little surprised to hear this as the first statement upon entering the hotel after a long trip. It was a few unsettling minutes, as I have already paid in full and now they are telling me they will see if my paid for room is available !! Though in a few minutes after looking at her computer screen the manager checked me into my correct room. But, it was a very unsettling moment and it seems as though this can happen very normally in this hotel. Doesn't give you the best feeling and expectation the moment you walk in.

Room Quality: I stayed in Room 303. The room size was decent. Bathroom too was decent. The lighting in the room is very little and none over the work desk.

Sleep Quality: The rooms are not sound-proofed and they have only single windows, not double glazed. So if you are a light sleeper you can hear the road noise; not to mention the noise from neigbouring rooms.

Breakfast: Just about adequate and moderate quality/selection. Nothing to really rave or crib about.

Location: Decent enough… approx. 300mtrs from two Metro's in either direction from the hotel. Paris is very very well connected with the Metro.

Overall thoughts: The staff in general (including the manager lady) are just about doing their jobs and are not really welcoming. Hence I think this hotel is rightly placed at the approx 850th spot of 1800 hotels in Paris. It could do much better with a better service. The hotel next door, is an identical half of this building and they are placed in the top 15 hotels in Paris. I did happen to walk into the hotel next door for an enquiry and could feel the level of difference in their hospitality and genuine warmth, rightly placing them in top 15.
While decent, this hotel really lacks a good management, and for the price they charge you can do a search for a much better hotel rated much higher than this one. If I am returning to Paris, I will certainly look out for another hotel (maybe the one next door, though I did not stay in the hotel next door, I will be putting a short review on it as I was extremely pleased with their warmth).

Room Tip: 303 is a decent size Double Room with a Balcony.
