Reviewed December 22, 2012 via mobile

Myself and my partner booked the Avalon hotel for a 3 night stay. We were told when we got there that they had upgraded our room at no extra cost to ourselves. The room had tea making fascilities and a fridge and cooker, which we didn't expect. There was a safe in the room, which wouldn't open after we had put our valuables in,on reporting this,it was a matter of minutes and the problem was rectified. Breakfast was buffet style and consisted of cereal, croissants, cold meats, juices, some fruit and tea and coffee, pretty repetitive but you could have enough to fill up on. We got around mainly by metro, though you do need a map. It was pretty hectic at times but that was all part of the fun. We enjoyed this hotel and would stay again if we ever went back to Paris. Highlights would have to be the Eiffel Tower, the Arc d'Triomph and Notre Damme cathedral, which is stunning.

Stayed at this hotel from the 14/12/12 to the 17/12/12. This was a break for both myself and my partner. We arrived at the hotel at 1900hrs and from the first moment we checked till we departed the staff were great. We had a problem with our safe and it was delt with straight away. Breakfast was good and the area was clean at all times. I would stay at this hotel again,as it is good for the train station,as well as geting the metro to the centre of Paris.

Thanks again to the staff for making our weekend more relaxing.

Would not hesitate to stay here again. We stayed for 3 nights in December and were really impressed. Def the best 3 star I've stayed in. Spotlessly clean with v comfy beds. Great breakfast and friendly, helpful, English speaking staff. Lovely, warm rooms too. Avalon is 3 mins walk from Gare du Nord so if you are flying into Charles de Gaulle airport it's an easy train journey to hotel. Barbes metro station is 3 mins in other direction so you are well connected. Montmartre and sacre coeur only 10 mins away on foot. Lots of cheap restaurants in area and a brilliantly stocked Monoprix supermarket across the road. Area feels very safe.
We liked the rooms ending in -04! On the corner with 2 windows.

Have a lovely time staying for 3 days. Good and hearty breakfast. Stayed at the 6th floor. Eventhough have small lifts but still manageable to go up and down. Near gare du nord and plenty of nearby Halal restaurant to eat.

Room Tip: Choose room at the top floor so not to expose to noise

We picked the Avalon Hotel using a combination of Tripadvisor and Booking.com reviews.
We needed a reasonably priced hotel near Gare du Nord and the Avalon seemed to meet our needs. We arrived at 1830 and the hotel was easy to find, only 5 mins from the station. The room was clean and well maintained and the buffet breakfast was very good. Although on a busy street the room was very quiet. Montmarte and Sacre Cour are both a short walk and the Metro and RER lines are at Gare du Nord. The Avalon Hotel was just what we needed for a short trip to Paris. For a hotel close to the Eurostar terminal it is ver y good value.

There's a reason why the reviews on Trip Advisor are so positive for Avalon. Finding a hotel that is clean, relatively quiet (and that's the only kind of quiet one generally gets in Paris), well-located, with good service, at a moderate price, is a difficult job in Paris. Avalon qualifies on all counts. Its location steps from the Gare du Nord is ideal for travelers who take the RER to CDG Airport, or the EuroStar to London. They even throw in a free tour of Montmartre Tuesdays and Saturdays (you should tip the guide, though). The nearby restaurants and brasseries range from decent to very good with moderate prices by Parisian standards. Breakfast is extra and not something I generally do at the hotel in Europe, as it's more expensive than what you can find nearby (though convenient). The rooms are nicely organised, with all the fixings modern and in good condition. Walls are not paper-thin but nor do they keep out noise from other rooms; an absolutely protean female couple kept me entertained over 36 hours with activity. In this price bracket, that's a small price to pay. Best of all, the service is excellent. You can easily pay double the rate in Paris and get half of what Avalon offers. Go on, book your flight. You know you want to!

The Avalon Hotel is unique in that it has a variety of rooms available. We were fortunate to
have a room in the section of the Hotel where each floor had only 2 rooms. The elevator was therefore always available. The Hotel is quiet . The buffet breakfast is very good. The Hotel staff are helpful and pleasant. The location is near the Gare Du Nord and The Gare de Este both of these train stations also have Metro and RER stops. You can walk to Montmarte area and the
Sacre-Coeur Bascilica. There are at least 12 good restaurants within a short walk. The price range is 75 euros to 135 euros depending on the season.

Room Tip: Depending on the size you need ask for rooms in area with 2 rooms on each floor.

The staff would like to thank you for your comment. The part of the hotel you were staying in was the studios which indeed only have 2 rooms per floor and are very quiet. Our breakfast is a buffet with a little bit of everything to be able to satisfy all of our guests taste buds, so we are glad that you enjoyed it.
