Stayed in the hotel for five nights with my partner in October, unfortunately we were incredibly dissatisfied and cannot recommend the hotel in any way. Upon arrival, the front door way was blocked by a ladder surrounded by several builders. When they assured us we were in the right place and showed us into the 'reception' we found a room, completely stripped of all furniture, wallpaper, paint and floorboards, bar a desk and computer. We left our luggage in this room as we were early for check-in and went for lunch. When we returned we were given the key to our room and told to go up in the lift, which barely held two people and a suitcase. When we got to our floor there were people in the hallway painting and decorating and when entering the room there was an overwhelming smell of fresh paint which soon gave us both a bad headache. We paid for the luxury room however several facilities were missing, including a phone and TV with international channels. In the bathroom we found towels that were soaked and stained hidden under clean ones, when we brought this down to reception they seemed completely unbothered and only asked where we found it the next day, still with no apology. We asked to move rooms due to the bad smell of paint however we were not moved. On our third day of the stay we were woken up by noisy builders in the corridor drilling to the surprise of no running water, which meant no shower, no taps, and no ability to flush the toilet. we went out for breakfast and about two hours later when we returned to the hotel there was still no water so I spoke to the receptionist who said 'I rang all the other rooms but I couldn't get through to you' when I told him this was because we weren't supplied with a phone as we'd brought up previously, he said he couldn't leave reception to come and knock on our door, again, no apology for the inconvenience and no idea of when the water would be back (it ended up being off for about 5 hours). That night when we came back to the hotel we noticed a ketchup stain that had been made on the duvet two days before (the cleaner only changes sheets every two days) had not been changed. When we asked at reception why they said the cleaner had gone home and there was nothing they could do. It was still not changed the next day and was there when we left on our final day. The morning before we left we felt it suitable to speak to the manager about the problems we encountered. He was apparently in at 3 that afternoon so we made a point of returning from our day out to speak to him, however a no show. He didn't turn up till 5 at which point we'd left again. That evening when we returned we saw him at the desk and my partner said he was just going to put our bags in our room and would then be back to talk to him. When he got back down to reception he had his coat and bag on ready to leave. He dismissed all our comments saying that they were not his fault and focused on minor problems like the TV not working, a point which he argued so much my partner had to bring him up to our room to show him. He then told us we were only angry because the cleaner had made a comment about us being messy, a comment we took quite light-heartedly as the cleaner was a lovely lady, about the only decent member of staff there. The manager said he had to leave to pick up his children and so didn't have time to listen to our complaints but would offer us each a 10 euro breakfast the next morning. We were absolutely appalled by the level of service in this hotel. The staff were often rude and grumpy and the room was not at all what was promised. We were expecting some level of compensation as when we returned home we wrote our complaints to the manager so he could read them when he had time but they are now denying every claim. Had we been told there were building works going on in the hotel we would not have stayed there but there was no advertising whatsoever on the website on confirmation emails. Do not stay here.
