No internet at my room, my roommate used my personal towel, and as I made the complaint personally and then after living the room, I send an email to Olivier, the manager, and this was his answer: "This is a hostel, not a 5 star hotel, you’re not the king here. But you are the king of stupid. Next time book a private room at The Ritz, or better yet, stay at home. You should not be traveling when you’re as stupid as you are..." I have the emails to prove it.

Hello,
To answer your review, I inform you that in our homepage it is written that our rooms don't provide any internet.
And I confirm you that I sent you this message that you wrote on your review, but don't forget to inform the others about this disrespectful message, wich you sent about the reception.
I have the emails to prove them.

Best Regards
Olivier

Awesome location, awesome staff, great place to stay. I was stuck with the top floor (4th), but there is a lift which works most of the time. Montmartre is such a beautiful place and le village is literally on its doorstep. Grocery store across the road, laundromat and convenience store just down the street. Junk food and haute-cuisine readily available. I had not stayed in a hostel for several years, but the week I spent at le village has definitely left me with many a fond memory.

Room Tip: book early. it was booked out most the time i was there.

The hostel is ideally located - 2 minute walk from metro. I felt safe walking there even in the evening on my own. The hostel itself is very cool in the main room and you can see the Sacre Cure church from the very cute patio area. Rooms are fine - typical for a hostel, two bunks, bathroom and sink/shower separate. Things that I didn't like:

1. Doors in bathroom and shower squeak like crazy. At 40 EUR a night, this is something that can be easily fixed.
2. Walls are literally paper-thin and management does not try to control noise from the other dorms. We had people screaming and playing very loud music until 2:30 a.m.
3. One couple from South America staying in the hostel had bugs in the room crawling on them while they slept! They couldn't sleep at all and when they complained to the front desk, the girl said she couldn't do anything about it until the manager came back in two days. Problem is, you have to pay for your whole stay when you move in, so this couple couldn't even just leave because they paid for it. Finally when the manager came, he gave them their money back, but it seems absurd to me that a place with such high prices and turnaround doesn't have a manager always available to deal with issues. Very frustrating.

Bottom line -- it's ok if you want the location and can't afford a hotel. Why else does anyone stay in hostels I guess :)

The hostel is very well located at Monmartre.
The area feels safe at night as it is very well lit and there are open stores.
There are also two very close metro stations (the closest is Anvers).

Also, there are many good restaurant (some of Paris's best) in a walking distance from the hostel.
The crew was also very nice and the rooms are quite big and clean.
The free breakfast is VERY good! The Wi-Fi works superbly from the rooms on the fourth (most upper) floor!

They do have a problem with ordering a taxi from the hostel, so search for some taxi numbers beforehand.

We stayed at this hostel twice. The price and location are worth the money. If you come by train it is great, just a short walk to the hostel. There is no lounge to sit, that is a shame. The kitchen is good and so is the breakfast. You need to get in fairly early to get the nice croissants. There is an area with tables and chairs to spend the evening. Outside on the roof there are also a few small tables.
Having your own bathroom is nice.

The second time we stayed there were a few bucks parties that were noisy.
The location is nice. You will need to get on to public transport to see the Eiffel tower. We enjoyed the Sacre Couer at night time and the various street artists in the neigbourhood.

Room Tip: An outside room is nice, we had a four persons dorm. It was seperate from the other rooms and not really connected to the inside rooms of the main building.
