My girlfriend and I were in Paris for 5 days and started with this tour on day 1. It was a great decision! JB was a fantastic tour leader and was funny and charming. We got a great overview of all the major attractions and it gave us an idea of where we wanted to go back and visit the rest of our trip! We felt safe the whole time, but i wouldn't want to take any young kids on it. You definitely need to be aware of traffic rules and be able to control your bike to ride throughout Paris. JB did a great job navigating the group through all the tourists and we had a fabulous time! It was a smaller group that the other bike tours we saw around, so we really like that.... I highly recommend this tour!

We went on two tours with Blue Bike Tours -- both of them were fantastic. The guides were very personable, fun, and knowledgable. Seeing all of the sights combined with their detailed knowledge history made the tours *very* memorable.

Biking around made Paris and Versailles very accessible to us. Appropriate breaks and an easy pace made the tours very enjoyable.

If you are going to Versailles, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you take this tour. Being on wheels is the only way to see all of the sites at Versailles on the 2000 acre estate. Plus you'll have the benefit of the Blue Bike Tours guide, who was fun, extremely knowledgeable of the history and spoke perfect English along with other languages. The people at Blue Bike Tours are fantastic and made everything very easy. We had a truly wonderful time and met new friends on the tour.

The tour is fun for all cycling levels and ages (we had some beginners who had a great time with no mishaps). You'll start off meeting at the train station in Paris, pick up your bikes in Versailles, make a short stop in the local market square to purchase picnic supplies (wine is a must), then bike along the Grand Canal to your picnic site. From there, you'll visit the Petite Trianon, Grand Trianon and Marie Antoinette's Hamlet, after which you can tour the Chateau, Gardens and Fountains. You will have a better Versailles experience than most tourists for sure! I know we did! Thank you Blue Bike Tours!

Below are recommendations to make your bike tour even more fun:

1. Before you go, have your kids watch "Engineering An Empire: Napoleon Steel Monster" from the History Channel for great background on Louis XIV and the building of the Versailles Chateau. The guide knows all the history too, but it's nice to know some of it in advance. You can download it before you leave on vacation and watch it the night before your tour on your tablet or smart phone.

2. Plan on getting to the train station about 10-15 minutes early. We were delayed because the Metro unexpectedly shut down the subway line to the train station, so the extra time allowed us to get there on time. But don't worry because there is a train every 15 minutes back and forth to Versailles. Also, put the Blue Bike Tours phone number on your phone so you can call in route if you are delayed. They will wait for you.

3. Bring money to buy your picnic lunch. Bring a backpack to carry your lunch in while biking. Make sure your camera battery is charged full before you go. On sunny days wear shorts. Suntan lotion is optional because most of the time you'll be biking under shaded tree-lined paths. Lastly, the bikes are perfectly comfortable so no need for bike gloves or any special equipment. Just come as you are.

4. When you stop to buy your lunch, ask the guide to point out the guy selling crepes from a cart in the middle of the square and get the Chocolate Banana crepe. It is awesome and a local favorite, but it's a little messy so eat it there and get something else for your picnic. A wine bottle opener is good to have, and ask the wine vendor for some plastic glasses to take with you on the picnic.

5. If possible, schedule your tour on one of the days that the Fountain Show is happening at the Chateau. There are only 2 fountain shows a day and you'll have plenty of time to watch the afternoon show after the bike tour is over. Fountain show tickets can be purchased at the gate to the gardens, no need to get in advance. Here is information link. http://en.chateauversailles.fr/prepare-my-visit-/single/tickets-and-rates/billets-et-tarifs/les-grandes-eaux-1-en. Also, there are about 30 working fountains spread out across the estate. Get a map, pick a route thru the gardens and see as many as you can during the show. I would recommend seeing 3,4,6,7,11,13 and 14 on the map, and of course the main fountain marked D on the map. Make sure you see fountain #7, which has a complete 10 minute fountain show set to baroque music.

6. Lastly, if you are going to Paris and Versailles, definitely buy the Paris Museum passes before you leave for vacation. http://en.parismuseumpass.com/ It eliminates waiting in line and saves a lot of time. Kids under 18 don't need a pass because they generally are free (we purchased one for our son just in case but ended up not using it). The museum pass also works for the Chateau at Versailles (the fountain show is separate), so no need to have Blue Bike Tours buy a pass for you. We used the pass every day while in Paris and Versailles.

Enjoy! Our son was initially reticent about the bike tour, but ended up loving it more than anything else we did in Paris.

My son Ryan had a dream ....... to ride a bicycle in Paris, with a baguette in his backpack! Simple I know but hey. he is only 16! We set out to fulfill this wish by finding Blue Bike Tours on the internet. We were expertly guided through the manic streets of downtown Paris and also taken to some quiet retreats, intimate village type areas and of course the fabulous landmarks of Paris. JB was our guide ...... he is definitely in the right job! He sourced us the prized baguette and for me some delightful foie gras from a little deli in a back lane ....... so as you see by the picture Ryan was happy, and me ....... I'm back in Australia happily munching on my foie gras with crusty bread YUM!
