“Wonderful Evening... Wonderful Host”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

A highlight of our recent visit this was receommended by a friend who travelled through just a few weeks before. Wonderful and entertaining host, modern yet unpretentious atmosphere, distinctive wine list and a tasteful meal. If we had had more time we would have been back for a second night... truly a reason to check out the Republique. Thank you Fibian you made us feel welcome and were the perfect end to a wonderful day in Paris. Thank you!!!!

“So good we went twice!”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We decided to visit Le Chemise after reading positive reviews about it on trip advisor and we weren't disappointed. The staff were very friendly, spoke fluent English and were all willing to translate the menu into English. The space was lovely and had a warm ambience. The food itself was beautiful and we were all thoroughly impressed; so much so that we went back two nights later. Our experience the second time was equally as good. It was a bit expensive, but one must remember that one is in the centre of Paris and that is all that can be expected.

“Delicious food”
Reviewed September 17, 2013 via mobile

We came here based on the positive reviews in TripAdvisor plus the fact that it was only 5 m from our hotel.

It seems to be one of the few places in Paris that opens at 6:30 in the evening, which worked well for us. The staff were welcoming and spoke excellent English.

We ordered the rabbits rillettes and the fois gras, both of which came with toast. Both were excellent, but the standout was the fois gras, which came with a dried fruit chutney which was delicious.

For mains we ordered the beef châteaubriand. The beef was beautifully cooked and came with a yummy onion jam.

For dessert we had the raspberry tiramisu and the chocolate pudding, which was extremely soft and 'melt in the mouth'. The raspberry tiramisu had a strong raspberry flavour and a delicious soft cream.

The service was great, the price was good and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend for a slightly 'higher end' bistro meal.

“Just dropped in for dessert”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

Lovely little place, just opposite our hotel. Would have almost missed it if not looking closer. We were looking for somewhere for a quiet dessert and night cap before returning back to the hotel - had almost given up as the only things open after 9 in the area are the bigger places (in some cases chain restaurants) on republique. Just before going into the hotel we spied this and decided to drop in and ask if they would be happy to have us for only dessert and wine.

The staff (I think one was the owner) were absolutely lovely, and forgave my terrible french to speak in english instead (the australian accent kills any french I try!). Gave us a quiet corner table in their very nice warm and gently lit room - very comfortable and potentially romantic. We ordered a rasberry tiramisu (interesting but successful take on it!) and a little chocolate tart/cake with a toffee vanilla ice cream- and a couple of glasses of wine. Delicious and the lovely waitress also offered help to translate the menu or choose some complimentary wines with the dishes.

had a lovely time worth writing about and looking forward to having dinner there before we leave. thank you!

“Awesome food and service”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

We went here our first night in Paris and it was great. The food and wine were wonderful. The owner took it upon himself to explain the menu in English to us. He also helped us select a wine. The atmosphere was very chic and nice. It is a must!
