Owner description: As food writers, it’s our job to devour delicious things and to understand what makes them special. The Wall Street Journal recently called us “the definitive blog on the city’s food and wine scene,” and we’re now using that knowledge to lead tasting tours through the most exceptional shops in Paris. Our tours run every day of the week, even Sunday and Monday, and our prices are affordable.

I had a lovely morning in the Marais district with Catherine and 4 other tourists. Catherine is very knowledgeable, did her Masters in something to do with food and has been working with PBM for over 3 years. We started off at Poilane bakery, had the most delicious apple pastry I have ever eaten as well as croissants and the world famous Poilane bread for our picnic later. We moved on to a Fromagerie where we could tell her what kind of cheese we prefer, then walked through a market which would be worthwhile to revisit as we were there rather early for market standards and many of the stall holders were setting up. Onwards to buy charcuterie, again she was open to our suggestions of what we would like to taste, but we were all happy for her to do the choosing. We walked to a nearby park and enjoyed our lovely goodies. The last stop was at Jacques Genin where we tasted a very delicious mango caramel, mint chocolate and honey and chestnut chocolate as well as delicious fruit squares. There is plenty to taste and Catherine and the other guests were very generous to offer all the left over goodies to my husband who did not make the tour as he was working. I can highly recommend Paris by Mouth and their website is full of very useful information like restaurants, pastry shops, ice cream shops and etc recommended by them.

Let's begin with our guide Phyllis. She has a love of all things food. Provenance, quality, season, knowing when cheese is ready and what and where the cows and goats are eating. The history of every baker, the uniqueness of there product. For a food lover there is nothing better. You are walking from market to artisanal shops and she is feeding you every step of the way. It felt like I had never tasted cheese before, truly for anyone who loves to eat or cook this is a perfect tour. You will understand how and where to purchase the very best, even if it's just a little hors d'oeuvres in your room before dinner. Everyone ar Paris by Mouth treated us so well, they are a great group of people who will guide you through your stay in Paris. My sister and I cannot thank them enough for such a wonderful experience. Barbara Sigismund

First off, we were in tears of frustration before meeting up with this tour. We got off at the correct underground stop, but could not find the street or bakery where we were to meet. We had three Paris maps and the street was not on any of them. We went in four stores and showed the name of the bakery and address to the clerks and no one had heard of it. Finally a kind woman looked it up on her GPS. It took us 45 minutes to finally locate our group--and it is surprising that we did. We feel so bad for having missed almost a third of the tour and equally sad that we know the group had waited for us.

Once there we really enjoyed it. Catherine was excellent. She is very knowledge about food and vendors. We walked around the market and sampled fresh produce, pizza, chocolate, etc. Catherine was very helpful in advice about restaurants and stores. A fun romp through a Bastille market.

If you are looking for something fun and different to do in Paris. This is it. Went on the St. Germain food tour led by the very pleasant and knowledgeable Diane. Had a great mix of people on the tour (only 7) and Diane made it fun for all of us. Explored some great shops and markets and best part we got to sample the products purchased at the end of the tour in the back room of a Paris wine shop. Cannot be beat. A great alternative to visiting another museum.

I am the friend of Aretha 23 and enjoyed the tour as much as she did. Always wanted to get into Pierre Hermes -- lines usually too much for me -- and the patisserie was amazing. Would like to try the Cannele. It was a perfect morning so St Sulpice w/o scaffolding was the perfect setting. The market was fun and all the things we sampled were great. Love La Derniere Goutte. Patty was really fun. They evidentially do wine tastings on Friday. Would love to do that. Diane, our guide was very interesting and the bread she brought was divine and she told us why. Well worth the price. And will go back to all the stores again.
