This was our trip of a life time and Hotel Saint-Jacques was perfect. Location away from major tourist areas, nice sized room, very clean bathroom, air conditioning, elevator and excellent staff that helped when ever they could. The metro was close but we enjoyed the walking and quickly found ourselves at Notre Dame. I always felt safe. We ate breakfast out most of the time but one the last day we used the hotel and had great personal service. We stayed on the 4th floor and could leave the window open for street sounds or close it up and sleep quite soundly. The Hotel has such history but has kept its charm while still meeting the needs of a modern traveler.

We stayed here for 4 nights in August, we usually stay in an apartment but as it was August we wanted airconditioning which a lot of apartments don't have. We really enjoyed our stay, the room was comfortable, quiet given its location and spacious by Paris standards. We chose to eat breakfast out so can't rate the restaurant. The location is great, close to the river and very near some good restaurants and tourist sites.

A very nice clean little hotel in a great location with the metro and lots of good restaurants nearby. It was pretty easy to take the train from CDG airport and then walk to the hotel with our rolling suitcases. Our room was charming, a little small, but the beds were great! Plus the room (with the lights turned off) was dark and good for sleeping. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. The big bonus for us was that they had a room available when we arrived late morning and let us check in early. We had just arrived after an 8 hour overnight flight and had expected only to drop off our luggage at the hotel. So checking into a room right away and getting cleaned up was an unexpected treat. Paris prices of course.

Excellent location. Mastered the Metro in no time at all. Purchased 2 day passes for our brief stay and could use it on everything. Staff at desk spoke English well and were very helpful. Breakfast was delightful. Big city prices, but the convenience was worth it.Restaurants where ever you looked and many historic sites close by.

Room Tip: Room 8 is a corner room with a small balcony. Larger than most.

To be honest, the people are very nice but the hotel is not in great shape nor in a great location.
Rooms are very small and a bit old, with a bit of a musky smell.
I would probably look elsewhere next time.

Dear Guests,
We invite you to check your invoice as your review was sent to the wrong hotel.
In fact, our hotel is not old but decorated in the 19th century style and not smelling musky by the way.
Our rooms are considered among the most spacious ones in the area for Paris Standards of course.
And last but not least, we are located in the heart of Paris, the Latin Quarter in a 5mn walking distance to Notre-Dame, the Pantheon, boulevards St-Michel and St-Germain, Luxembourg garden...
For all these reasons, we think that you made a mistake and wrote a review on the wrong hotel.

Our first trip to Paris found us in this lovely boutique hotel in the Latin Quarter within view of the majestic Pantheon. The sprightly decor exudes La Belle Epoque with colorful murals and delightful moldings evoking the period as noted throughout the building.

The staff: uniformly helpful, particularly Brigitte and Areski, cheerful, welcoming, informative but never intrusive. They readily helped with restaurant, excursion and taxi bookings, and Areski even pitched in assisting with some airline boarding pass issues.

Most importantly, especially for 1st timers like us, the hotel's location places you within a block or two of the Maubert Metro (no. 10), the RER, ATM's, taxi stands, side-walk creperies, boulangeries (try Erik Kaiser at 14 Rue Monge) and a wonderful "old-school" pharmacy a block east on Rue des Ecoles.

It's an easy 10 minute walk to Notre Dame and all the other great things to see on the Ile de la Citi. (See my September Trip Advisor review of Paris Walks DanD403).

Charm yourself with a visit to the nearby open markets: Maubert at the metro opens Tues. Thrs. Sat; Place de Monge Wed. Fri. Sunday.

With so much food available nearby and due to our often packed early morning schedule we didn't get an opportunity to try the hotel restaurant but I'm sure it's probably worth a stop just for the decor alone.

Room Tip: We roomed in #6 on the second floor facing the street with french doors leading to a small but more...

This hotel was perfect for our short Paris stopover. The rooms were clean and lovely and the staff at the front desk were extremely friendly. The location is perfect for wandering through the Latin Quarter with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. It's about a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame and an easy commute to the airport RER from the St Michel Notre Dame metro stop. This is a truly charming Parisian inn and highly recommended.
