Looking for a hotel in Paris in the area we wanted and within a decent price range was incredibly difficult!!!! Somehow (maybe it was a miracle), I stumbled across this hotel. It was 84 Euro per night with a private bathroom. It could be cheaper if you were willing to share a bathroom, which also looked very decent. It's a small enough hotel that it wouldn't be a huge deal.

The check in was as simple as being handed a key. The front desk men were SO SO helpful. They were both willing to take out maps, show us where to go, how to get from point a to point b, etc. They gave us maps and information on things to do around the hotel.

The rooms were very clean and the hotel has been owned by the same family for decades. It was a lovely stay and we would certainly go back!!! It was very close to the train as well as the bus lines.

We enjoyed it very much!

My wife and I stayed here after finding a positive review in the Guardian newspaper for affordable hotels in Paris. Our room was on the 4th floor, overlooking the street, and had very large windows which opened up but blocked all the traffic sounds when shut. Sometimes you hear the person upstairs walking around a little but it was not a problem, I slept like a baby. The hotel has an old style character which I found perfect, and is kept spotlessly clean. All the staff were very nice. We had a wonderful trip and would love to return. You will need shower tokens if your room is without a bath, but it's not a problem and again, the showers were absolutely spotless.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the street are nice when the weather is good, and the windows are well insulated to...

Well located, near from a lot of bars, resaurants and the metro; Clean; unexpensive for paris average prices.
The rooms are not spacious, but it's also not tiny; Good bed and silent.
No tv in the rooms, and for the rooms without a shower, you have to pay about 2 euros to take a bath of 10 minutes maximum. This was the bizarre detail of this good hotel. A little spartan, it's true, but the decoration is soft and cozy.
Once you will spend wour day visiting the city, this is a good hotel to sleep.

We loved this hotel, it was in a great location near restaurants and the metro, within walking distance of some interesting parts of Paris and close to a direct line to the airport. It was clean, had character and was very friendly. And the price was excellent!

I´ve been to Paris last October and stayed there for 5 days, long enough to stroll around the city. I was looking for a hotel in the latin quarter or in the roundabouts. I found Port Royal Hotel, which is only a couple of blocks away from Les Gobelins metro and the Gare of Austerlitz (huge train station). The rate per night is very convenient (less than 80 euros!) and breakfast is included, that´s great if you are planning to start your day really early, for they serve it as from 7 am. Cleanliness is remarkable considering the bathrooms are shared. It was great to find that the hotel has an elevator, for it is not common in the hotels. The only withdraw is that they don´t accept credit cards and if you want to make a reservation you have to make a deposit from beforehand to ensure that the room will be available for your stay. The staff is very friendly, and reception is open the whole night, which is perfect if you arrive late.

Port-Royal Hotel is a great budget hotel for those wishing to save some money and still be in the city. Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly, meeting all of our needs and accomodating our limited French.

Room was simple, very clean, enough room to spread out 2 suitcases, hang up items and have a desk space for misc items. Nice window opening to the small courtyard (perfect for bringing in fresh air and a breeze). Our room had a full bathroom with shower, while small, it was very sufficient.

Floors were quite squeaky and loud when walking around room, but it's whats expected when in an older European hotel. No extra frills in the room, but it was an excellent value for the price and located in a cute neighborhood with walkability to several metro stops and bus lines. We will definitely stay again!

Thanks Port-Royal!

Room Tip: Rooms with view of courtyard are quieter as they are off the street.

Clean, and excellent value for what you get. Not luxurious but adequate for a short stay. I would stay here again. Good location near metro and train to airport. I would pay the extra to have room en-suite next time.
