It's cheap, you have free decent breakfast, it has a good location and free Internet.

But the room... The room was really lousy. Very, very small and the carpets we so old and looked very dirty.

The elevator is so small that a big suit case almost doesn't fit.

The Villa-Fenelon is very central, easy access to all of Paris, walking distance to the Opera and, in the other direction, to Montmartre. La Gare du Nord is just up the road.
The decor is charming if slightly tatty Louis XVI chic, very in keeping with the building and its delightful, Parisian lift, with period staircases for those keeping it. The ensuite bathrooms are small but shiny, squeaky clean, everything works, there is a hairdryer and lashings of hot water. Maybe the mirror tiles aren't too kind to hose of us not in the first flush of youth but are practical for hair & makeup. There is an internal courtyard garden, ideal for relaxed summer breakfasts and those very adequate, nicely served breakfasts are included in the price of a night's stay - something that is becoming rare in hotels these days. With its relaxed, friendly staff, what is there not to like? If to some it is "basic" then give me basic that is clean, friendly and interesting with its own distinct character every time - anonymous, nondescript luxury is, frankly, boring.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annexe may be quieter than in the main hotel

Two close metro stations nearby make it easier for you to move through Paris. Otherwise the hotel is very basic, the personnel is nice and the rooms are a bit old but clean and I actually had an excellent sleep on the bed which was very comfortable. Unfortunately I could hear all what was going on in the next room and the neighbors were having an argument at 7 AM!

Have been before to this hotel and generally the facilities have improved although the price has been increased also.....a bit more then the facilties.
The total package would be still very acceptable except for the persistent sewerage smell in the bathroom, had to keep the window open all the time. The bathroom actually was pretty clean and I could not locate the source of the smell. My fellow traveller's room also had this smell.
In my room (43) the phone was missing.
The (charming) elavator will be a challenge for bigger people.
A recommended improvement would be to install shower curtains so one can take a proper shower rather then struggling taking a shower in the bath.

Room Tip: at the back was nice and quiet.

Staying at this 2 star hotel is like being taking back in the past, say the beginning of 1900. It so reminded me of the movie Midnight in Paris.. Both the interiors and the façade are old fashioned but stylish at the same time. Mirrors are all over the place and the tiny elevator is so antique you wouldn't feel safe using it. The room I was given was massive but basic as the whole structure is, but reasonably cheap for the standards of Paris. Also, breakfast was included and the butter croissants were so yummy! The location is just perfect. It is very central, the Opera being only at the end of Llafayette Street, behind which the hotel is located!
And the centre of Paris can be visited within walking distance! Highly recommended to families, groups and solo travelers alike.

I had a lovely stay at this small hotel in a great location in Paris. It was walking distance from the Sacre Coeur and just a minute walk away from the metro. It was exactly what I needed, the room was small, and the elevator fit one (slim) person. The staff was very friendly and courteous, the breakfast was perfect but like my review is titled you get what you pay for, it was very basic but in Paris I never spend much time in my hotel room. Also the wifi was included and was fast and efficient.
