“Not what you'd expect ... BETTER!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

We travel frequently to Paris and have most often stayed in the 6th and 7th. But based on a article, we decided to stay in the 11th and stumbled on Angely. Could not be happier. The hotel sits astride the 11th, 3rd and 10th on a quiet "side street". The hotel is very contemporary ... sort of minimalist ... but extremely comfortable. We stayed five days on level 2 ... staff suggested the next trying a higher floor. I'd agree but quite honestly, for the nightly rate, I think we had a great room.
The 11th is absolutely abuzz with interesting restaurants, shops and things to do.The hotel is just a few blocks to the Republique Metro, so getting everywhere is as simple as can be. Can't say enough about the staff ... very attentive, friendly and helpful. We're comfortable in Paris, but I listened as they helped other guests ... all skillfully. If you stay in the area, there are several excellent restaurants nearby .... most notably Le Chemise, just around the corner.

Room Tip: If you're here for more than a few days, select an upper room.

My husband & I stayed at Hotel Angely for 2 weeks on the top floor; room 601 (May 2014). The hotel was lovely as were the staff. We had breakfast every morning in our room (thanks!). Aside from a few ants in the room (to be expected in an historic building), the room was clean and comfortable. Elevator was small and only went to 5th floor (no biggie). Slept well. It was quiet at night. Bed very comfortable. 5 minute walk to the Marais and a couple minutes to Place de Republic (lots of restaurants nearby). Metro station very close and handy. We enjoyed our stay very much 7 would definitely stay there again. Thank-you to the staff; you were all great and very hospitable. Merci Beaucoup!

We spent an enjoyable week here in one of the "cheap rooms" and survived rather well.
Yeah, it's small yet has enough closet and storage space to navigate around, the bathroom is modern and neat looking (and works) and the bed's comfortable. The only English language TV stations are two CCTV news and documentary channels. They seem to rerun the same news and features which, in turn, serves to make one's stay in Paris last longer. Another plus is CCTV runs no stories on Beyonce or Miley or any of the celebrity crap on CNN. But I digress.
The wifi always works. The A/C doesn't quite match the success of the wifi, so it could get a little warm at times. Easy fix, open the windows.
Breakfast is rather simple, but the coffee's good as are the croissants and that's enough to get you started in the morning.
Across the board, the staff was a great group of folks. Helpful, friendly, great language skills.
Location is great, between two Metro stations to get you around easily, and great food places all around.
The stay was not without incident. Around 4 am one morning we were awoken by a loud alarm. Turns out someone on the floor had had a smoke and that set off the system. Hence, don't light up; use snus.

The location of the hotel was very good, very close to the Place de la Republic with links to most of the top tourist attractions. There were plenty of restaurants and bars close by as well.
The room was small but we were exepecting that as we went for the cheapest room... what do you do in your room in Paris except sleep?? The toilet was very small and a little claustrophobic as the door was inches from your face. It was also a little rough round the edges with small things not finished to a high standard and a spot of mould above the shower but nothing that really detracted too much. There are no drinks facilities in the room, not even a complimentary bottle of water. Breakfast was ok but a little cramped again and not a lot of choice but there are plenty of places to eat out for breakfast at a similar price should you want to. In fact I would reccomend it.
The thing I was disappointed with was that I had no contact from the hotel prior to my visit, despite 3 emails sent via both trip advisor and their own website I did not receive a single response. The staff were friendly enough and over all the experience was ok but I would probably not stay here again after seeing the hotel my sister stayed in for the same price.

Room Tip: Avoid the velvet rooms if you want more space.

We are very surprised and extremely sorry to read your comment.

Most of the charming “boutique hotel” in Paris will not match the room size that you can find in another part of the world.
You had confirmed a Velvet, our standard room, our first category.
The size of the rooms are different regarding the category booked:
- Velvet, our standard room : 12 square meters with separated bathroom and restroom
- Celeste, our classic room: 14 square meters with unique decoration based on clouds and the sun .
- Dahlia, our superior room: 15 square meters with the headboard designed by Valérie Boy.
- Gold, our Prestige room: 19 square meters provided a typical black and yellow stripes decoration.
- Diamond Lovers, our unique Suite : 23 square meters, with a bath “Cup of tea” and it majestic round bed.

Our Hotel was totally refurbished in 2011 and our main goal is to adjust details every days in order to satisfied our guest.

Large retro style double room, room 304 was perfect. Comfortable bed. I left my mobile phone in the hotel and within moments they had sent an email to inform me and set up arrangements to return the phone. Easy to get a taxi arranged by staff. Saint Emilion wine in the lobby. Truly enjoyed my stay over the Easter weekend!

We picked this hotel as it looked a bit different and the location was away from the '€10 a pint' cafés. I also liked the fact that the hotel had its own app with off-line maps which was really helpful. The Dahlia room we booked was a reasonable size for Paris with an extremely comfortable bed and some great ambient lighting. It was also extremely quiet for a city hotel being set away from any main roads. The staff were really helpful and friendly and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The breakfast was good but as there were plenty of cafés nearby you have the option to take room only. This isn't always the case so we booked breakfast, and weren't disappointed. The area nearby has a lot of choice for eating out ranging from Moroccan to American style Diners and most places were very reasonably priced for Paris. We would definitely stay at this hotel again as it was smart, clean, friendly and in a great location.

We ended up by chance in this hotel, because one of the neighbouring hotels where we had reserved our room had a flooding. They gave us the blue room and we were delighted.
The bed was extremely comfortable and although the window was facing the street we didn't hear any noise.
The hotel is at walking distance from the Place de la Republique + Metro and Bataclan music venue and there are lots of ethnic restaurants nearby.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
We were less impressed by the breakfast, so one point less.
