We stayed here in the larger of the two guest rooms for the entire second week of June this year, referred here by the host’s friend who also runs a B&B, which was fully booked for that time. How fortunate for us. Although this B&B is relatively newly established and thus had few reviews, I was sold by owner Didier’s effervescent warm personality as soon as I talked with him on the phone.

The pros: host Didier, a lively conversationalist full of interesting info/recommendations about Paris, and his lovely wife Valerie; a secure beautifully appointed/decorated spacious room with super comfortable king size bed; a very nice modern small bathroom (shower and sink) artfully added on to the room (shower with a fabulous shower head); a gorgeous daily breakfast of fresh croissants, artisanal bread, jams, fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee/tea prepared by Didier; location a block away from the Metro.

The neutrals: noisy street, but after all this is Paris and we adjusted by the second night (keeping the windows closed resolved the issue); WC directly across the hall from our room and shared with other guest room, kept meticulously clean; some minor details, which we mentioned to Didier and which he intended to remedy.

Would absolutely stay here again.

This is a lovely B and B and Didier is a perfect host - very funny and personable, he really went out of his way to make our experience in Paris the best it could be. The bedroom has it's own shower and sink, toilet is shared, no problems at all with this. Nice beds and bedding, beautiful old Paris feeling.

My husband and I were lucky enough to find Le 85 by chance when we extended our honeymoon in Paris at the last minute and the place we were originally staying at wasn’t available for the extra nights. They sent us to Didier at Le 85 and we couldn’t have been happier!

Our gorgeous room (Chambre Eugenie, one of only two rooms) was comfortable, spacious and perfectly Parisian. Didier provided a lovely breakfast each morning (including fresh squeezed orange juice!) and was a friendly and helpful host. Didier and his wife stay in the other side of the apartment and the arrangement allows for sufficient privacy for all.

Le 85 is very close to the pink metro line, and walking distance to the Gare du Nord. The shared toilet is the only minor downside, but the room has its own lovely shower and sink. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs as the metro trains do rumble a bit at night, but nothing we couldn’t sleep through ourselves.

Given the reasonable price, this has to be one of the best value rooms in Paris! A real treasure.

Room Tip: There are only two rooms. Eugenie is 30m2, Baudelaire is 18m2, both on the same side of the apartment, both with balconies. And both very lovely.

Le85 is magnifique in every way! I am very picky with hotels and used to 5 star accommodations, and Le85 is a 5 star B&B by my standards. Didier and Valerie are the perfect hosts! They are so kind, nice, and fun to talk to over the delicious breakfast in the morning that it included. Didier is there for your every need and has a beautiful home with 2 finely decorated en-suite rooms that are huge by European standards with comfy king-sized beds and modern baths. The location is conveinent for the Eurostar and right near the metro. After 2 visits here, I feel I am staying with friends! I will only stay here from now on in Paris. A truly wonderful find.

Didier Guy started his B&B in Summer 2011, by chance we were directed to him , because another booking was mixed up.
It turned out to be our lucky day.
He has 2 large rooms both with bathroom in a large apartment near Gare du Nord. The station is a 10 min. walk, Mont Parnasse (Sacre Coeur) takes 20 mins on foot and the nearest Metro is a 5 mins walk. Just around the corner you have a nice square with plenty of restaurants and bars for every taste. The breakfast is very good , it lasts more than an hour because Guy is a marvelous host.
He takes care of every detail , gives advice where to go and what do do in Paris , the rooms are spotless and have very good kingsize beds.
Next time in Paris we'll surely stay there.
