“Lovely venue”
Review of Le Grand Rex

Le Grand Rex
Reviewed May 19, 2014

Le Grand Rex hosted Tori Amos for an evening concert. This was my first event at this venue and I would happily return. We were seated in the mezzanine and had a perfect view of the stage. The seats were plush and very comfortable. The process of entering and being seated by the usher was painless. As a limited French speaker I had no trouble navigating the venue.

Their ticket system online is a nightmare, just to buy a 11 euro ticket
They force you to "register" with he usual dozen mandatory fields (so they can pester you with spam)
And after they have taken your money, they tell you that you MUST print the ticket
Given that this is a tourist attraction, I don't know many tourists who carry a printer in their suitcase
(Nor many with the technical skills to use a hotel printer, should they be willing)
Anyway, I assumed I would not be the first paying customer with this problem, so I saved their ticket image on my iPad, and notd down THEIR ref number for the specific 10.30 booking
The guy at reception insisted that a printed ticket was the only path to happiness
THEIR ref number for the booking meant nothing to him, despite having a computer screen for booking before him
The image of their ticket on the iPad also drew blanks, and he was unable to photocopy it
He sent me to the Candy Concession that serves the REX cinema, where I got the same round the houses while a dozen people waited for candy
And then, with great heaving of shoulders, they printed out what they could have printed 20 mins before
The Reference number did matter!
The 50 min tour is pretty good. Being an early booker I got to be a group of one on a personal tour, and that featured exclusively in the green-screen video productions they show you
But they need to fix their ticket system, and get rid of the privacy-invasion of "registering"
Not needed to just buy a 11 euro ticket for a 50 min tour

Go on the tour- it's brilliant. It cost us 11 euros, and takes 50 minutes. Tours are in whatever language you ask for, and are automated, so you don't have to wait long to start. It's really informative and entertaining- it's a very interactive experience.....

Went on the "Stars of REX" tour with our two girls (10, 12). One of their favorite experiences in Paris. The tour is fully automated and super fun, and we had a barrel of laughs. Some scary bits so not for youngsters. Need to select French or English at the start.

The only disappointment is that you don't actually get to see the inside of the theater, only the backstage.

A few minutes walking distance is the Musee Grevin so consider visiting them on the same day.

visited this cinema tour july 2013 and didnt know what to expect as had little information. Ok to find right next to metro station. There was no queue and the price was reasonable. The tour was automated so you went in and chose either english or french as the language. Well what a good time we had a ball the tour was so entertaining and lasted approx 40 minutes wish it had been longer. inside there are a lot of special effects and interactive rooms and it is a great place for kids between say 8 and over. really small kids may get a bit scared. one part you even get to star in a couple of set movie scenes which you can then purchase for a very affordable price afterwards. highly recommended and well worth the entry fee.
