I stayed in one of the Hi-Mac rooms during my stay of six nights and found the room to be fantastic. It was my first experience in a bedroom that felt structured and designed to cocoon its occupants. During my stay I was impacted by the lift being out of service as another reviewer has noted; in an unexpected and generous show of courtesy that my nightly rate was discounted nearly 30% for the lift inconvenience. This exceptional customer service was phenomenal and I look forward to returning someday.

Room Tip: The Hi-Macs rooms are a fantastic experience. I felt like I was sleeping in a cocoon.

We just returned from our trip to Paris last weekend and I have to say that Hotel Jules and Jim was just awesome! The hotel is a small boutique hotel right in the heart of Le Marais with a beautiful courtyard. Check in was a breeze and the friendly check-in staff brought our luggage to the room. We had booked a Jim room and were on the 1st floor on top of the bar/restaurant in the courtyard. (Quiet and was not noisy at all) The room itself was a good decent size with a sitting area, large queen bed, separate WC and a nice shower with Molton Brown products. There is no view since you look into the neighbouring building’s courtyard which had nothing pleasing to look at but you get a big decent sized room. I say this as our friends had a room on the 8th floor in the main building which was really tiny but with a view to die for! It comes with a balcony and so you could sit there sipping a glass of wine and enjoy the view of Sacre Coeur. All rooms in the main building have a balcony and either you get the view facing the courtyard or the main street and the higher you go, naturally better the view. But the 2 rooms we viewed in the main building including a Hi-Mac room were small and for 2 people it can be quite a squeeze.

The main pull of this place is the staff and friendly welcoming atmosphere. We sat in the courtyard having cocktails pre-dinner and since we were celebrating a special event a friend of ours brought 2 bottles of Champagne to have it there. Although we were willing to pay corkage to have it there the bartender said it is normally not allowed but made an exception for the special occasion and agreed to serve us the bubbly for just €10 per bottle corkage! We were really grateful and thank you once again!

During the weekend we were there, the lift broke down on the Friday night. Although we were not affected our friends on the 8th floor had to go up and down the stairs daily like 3 to 4 times a day! The repair guys were there daily trying to fix it but it seems it was a major failure and so it was not fixed till the Sunday when we checked out. Although they tried to change to a different room, the hotel was like booked out. To our surprise, when we checked-out the hotel gave them a discount of like 30% from the rates that they had booked for the inconvenience! In this time and age when hotels are constantly trying to knock you off for every euro, this was a really great gesture. These small things make a difference and makes you wanna come back to stay in this hotel. Thumbs up from me for Hotel Jules and Jim!

Room Tip: Go for the Jim rooms which are more spacious but has no great view.

I chose this hotel based purely on the trip advisor reviews and I could not have been happier.

I think you can tell if this place is going to be for you by reading the few not perfect reviews on here. People address the fact rooms are small and the bar a little expensive. Both these things are true, but truthfully I could not have cared less. The rooms where small but the use of space was brilliant, stylish and functional. You have a Molton Brown stocked bathroom with a generously sized shower and mirror. The bar prices were a little high but you're in Paris! At most we used the comfy bar for a pre-drink as we chatted with the friendly bar staff discussing 'where we should head out for dinner or a drink'.

Which brings me to the best thing Jim and Jules has going for it... The staff. Relaxed, friendly and extremely helpful.

I could not recommend this place highly enough. I hope their attention to detail continues as it was far far above any other hotel on our trip.

This is the only place to stay in Paris. It is everything you could want in Paris: intimate and perfectly appointed. Although the rooms were small, they were excellently designed and decorated. The bed mattress was firm (a must for me) and the overhead showers a treat (even for a tall person). In room lighting and climate control (with aircon) was a real plus in July. The staff were friendly, relaxed and very accommodating. J&J is located conveniently in the Marais, an easy walk to many key attractions and destinations, two metro stations, and close to the Gare du Nord and the Gard de l'Est. The Marais is the heart of gay Paris, and the hotel made us (a male couple) very welcome, and made good recommendations for meals. Have a glass of red wine at the bar and then wander down to Notre Dame square at sunset, see the Eiffel Tower lit up as the sun goes down. Breakfasts were excellent (if pricey). Make sure to get enough wifi codes for all the devices you have (but they asked how many we needed, which was great). This is a place I recommend unreservedly, and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms.

We found a hotel that we loved. It is discreet and at the same time with an urban trendy feel to it. Nothing too sophisticated but just perfect not to intimidate anyone.

You have to realise though, that although simplicity is their essence , the work that has been put into the hotel and the materials used are of designer quality. You will probably either like this hotel or hate it but we loved it!

Being used to 5 star hotels we wanted to try something different and this was an experience. The staff were lovely, friendly, relaxed and very helpful.

We stayed in a Hi-Macs room. The room is small compared to hotels we usually stay at but very well designed so it works and we felt comfortable. We loved the "Cocoon" feel to it and the effects with lighting. The rain forest shower was a delight and the little terrace because we were on the inner court yard side was a nice surprise. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. We enjoyed the Breakfast which was simple and well balanced.

We love art and photography so highly appreciated the gallery feel to the public areas as well as in the bar (which is the breakfast room in the morning). The bar has a very living room like feel to it where we enjoyed our drinks one evening. A special mention to the barman who was very professional - we look forward to trying his cocktails next time!

If you are looking for a hotel with full American buffet breakfast services and everything else that goes with a major chain hotel service, then this is not the place for you. However if you a looking for a discreet hotel with a modern coziness then we thoroughly recommend you to try it. We had a great stay and look forward to our next!

This hotel is fantastic. It is a relative newcomer on the Parisian hotel landscape and the city is better for its presence.

The service is relaxed yet professional and leads to an informal but highly friendly vibe. The rooms were extremely well designed to maximise space and are large for Parisian standards (incl. a sofa in our room!). The bed is supremely comfortable and interior design looks excellent now and will age well as it is somewhat timeless. The bathrooms have a double size shower with a heavy flow (bliss after a long day) and Molton Brown amenities that the ladies will love. The bar area – inside and outside is great, as it the location.

On basically all fronts, this hotel is fantastic and I would highly recommend staying here, especially if the prices stay as reasonable as they are now.

We stayed at the Jules & Jim twice during our recent trip to France. We stayed for 4 nights when we arrived in May and again on June 30 at the end of our wonderful trip. We could not recommend this hotel more. The rooms are small, but perfectly decorated, and have the most up to date fixtures that we found on our entire trip (I was very jet-lagged the first night and little concerned that the blinds did not shield much light. It was only after noticing a button next to the bed that I realized the hotel had black out shades that could be closed electronically from the bed!!!). The hotel is also has great air-conditioning - a rare treat in Paris.

Even better was the staff of the hotel and bar. each member of the staff extremely courteous and each wanted to be as helpful as possible. The courtyard was perfect for having a coffee in the morning, or a drink in the evening. And the best was the bar...great wine, drinks and a fantastic staff. Ricardo - who runs the bar - was a delight.

The location could not be better. It was in the Marais, but just enough out of the way to enjoy the quiet streets in evening. Metro stops are only a few minute walk.

Room Tip: If you want to enjoy the convivial atmosphere of the courtyard ask for Room1, it is just steps away...
